I agree the HTML bugged the shit out of me, besides which being on Oztori was his choice. I was well impressed by the wave of the magic moderator wand that destroyed the fool. Nice work team. Now I reall feel like we're family. I reckon we should each post him a personal abusive email then block his address. To show our support for the cult... I mean, for Oztori. Thanks for the suggestions for songs for Friday. Kate or Dan, if either of you read this can I borrow the following: Swamp Ophelia, any KD Lang, Ani. Needed tomorrow at some point... In answer to previous threads: I haven't read a book for ages (last one was I think "The Boy Who Kicked Pigs" by Tom Baker - Yes, one and the same Dr Who.), and I'm studying Arts/Law at Club Mac (AKA Macquarie University) - 3rd year. And I got a C+ for my music assignment, which upsets me somewhat, but I can handle criticism. Tell me if you think I'm getting better on the drums, okay guys? Compassion, Jason oxooxoxoxo Yahoo! I for one agree with everything Phoebe had to say, except that is with the potted plant. What about other potted things? I spend most mornings talking to my potted Granny - "eh Gran? isn't that right? yes - now you see why I wanted you to take your medication, don't you? yes, well, you shouldn't have spent your days sucking on that bong.." then on to small h.: >I am not doing a comp sci degree! Geesh! i'm doing egineering thank >you very much! :) pfft - engineers are so pedantic (except when correct spelling is involved though, strangely ;) Dogbert:"Do you think normal people pack suitcases this way?" Dilbert:"I'm not a normal person - I'm an engineer" then on to Rachael: >what about REM...? Michael Stipe has recently come out... he has?? how did I miss that? "oh woe we have no Stipe today, today we have no Stipe" has anyone else heard the amusing story of when Natalie Merchant met him at a party and he gave her a brown paper lunch bag to hold, went into the toilets, climbed out the window, and never came back? I've always thought that would be a brilliant way to show someone that one cared.. :) I forget now.. err.. why I was writing - oh! yes, that was it - because I have two assignments due tomorrow, now I remember :) and assignments are excellent catalysts for doing some cleaning around the house, reorganising one's room, and for listening unto music, and I've decided that LE is just a bit too cutesy to listen to in parts, it just doesn't feel as 'smooth' as the other albums for some reason, and I've decided that my new 'introduce people to tori song' will be the live version of 'she's your cocaine' - my flatmate came in a bit white-faced just now and said "what the hell's happening? I thought you must have broken your leg, or you were having an orgasm - all that 'shit shit shit shit'" (the bit where she keeps repeating 'she she she she' I presume ;) And I've decided to be a groupie to Cat Hope - so, if you like Lisa Germano or Lush you might like Cat's band 'Gata Negra' who have a sample song called 'My Little Bunny' on http://www.mp3.com.au/GataNegra/ they're westaust local, but I think their CD is available over east too - buy buy buy buy buy buy buy buy (her solo stuff is good too but it's extreme noise and strangeness - a laptop, bass guitar and two delay pedals - not for delicate sensibilities :) Hey - everyone else gets to do it, why not me? Buy my new fragrance while your at it too "Ou`djour Student" - it'll knock your socks off, or trap them in a corner and threaten them.. (and by 'get it' if you just mean the reference to the TMBG "Oranges and Graphic Design" theme for that www site (chopping block or something or other...) then yes, I get it... otherwise.. no I don't :) the chopping block spends their time growing oranges and picking oranges then working on graphic design..." I really can't argue with these points :) Engineers have a few quirks :) And leave engineers (and my) bad spelling alone! - If I could spell I wouldn't have done engineering in the first place... now would I! :) d. on a side note... i'm sure i'm the only person that is exicted, hell even the only person that has heard of the duo... but.... i just got me a promo copy of Shpongle's new album 'Falts Of The Inexpressible' (out very very soonish... -june 6 i believe) and let me just say it is supurb! - not as chill out as 'are you shpongled' but excellent excellent excellent :) (www.shpongle.com if you care.. - due are simon posford (the god himself) and raja ram...) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 May 2001 15:48:40 -0700 From: "Hill, Renee" Subject: [oztori] FW: tori Just thought I'd forward this to the list in case not everyone had been to the Dent :) the following is said by Neil Gaiman - sounds very very exciting. #992 of 1006: Neil Gaiman (neilgaiman) Mon 23 Apr '01 (01:19 PM) Okay. I've heard the twelve tracks of STRANGE LITTLE GIRLS. I'll post something coherent later. For now, let me just say that whatever you're expecting, it's not what you expect; whatever you're imagining, it's not what you imagine. And I *knew* what to expect -- and it wasn't what I expected. And yes, it's astonishing, and powerful, and scary, and cool. And if I'm good, maybe tonight I'll get to hear it again. Neil (And yes, if anyone wants to repost this anywhere, feel free -- I'd hate to see people arguing over paraphases of what I might have said.) #998 of 1006: Neil Gaiman (neilgaiman) Mon 23 Apr '01 (06:21 PM) More on Strange Little Girls. Sat up with Marcel, listening to the b-sides (all lovely, and in each case I could see why it wasn't an album track -- although one of them might be a single in its own right), and then he played me four or five of the album tracks again. It got better. And I was blown away the first time. I don't really want to say anything specific and tangible about this album, because it's not my place to talk about it -- it's Tori's and she'll talk about it when the time's right. And you'll hear it then, too. But I will say that it feels in many ways like her first album as a grown-up -- as a mother, maybe; and that it's both her most accessible album (there's one track which made me think of nothing so much as a great lost track from Little Earthquakes) and also -- especially in the sequence of the last four or five songs, her most painful. There are a couple of songs that are real singles. There's one song that will be a basement remix before you can say 'stains' . And there's one mammorth of a song that isn't yet finished, but even in the unfinished version it 's audacious and wild. She does things with her voice I've not heard before. And the arrangements and musicianship are astonishing. And, as I said before, it's not what you expect - *whatever* you expect. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 May 2001 23:43:51 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Daniel?= Subject: [oztori] voting! come on people, vote!!!! and send in webpage info and stuff! dan ;) ===== people honk at me i shake my fist sometimes give them the finger i don't know why i always lie to you - - jane siberry "barkis is willing" Get your free @yahoo.co.uk address at http://mail.yahoo.co.uk or your free @yahoo.ie address at http://mail.yahoo.ie ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 May 2001 23:53:50 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Daniel?= Subject: [oztori] musical dreams [again, ot, unless you like nin] hello all! i had a new musical dream to accompany my others, including such favourites as "Dan and Trent Reznor Go Tori Hunting", "Tori Plays The Supermarket", "Dan And Damo Miss A PJ Concert" and "PJ Plays At Dan's Old School Cricket Nets". Last night I was dreaming...I was at work at Coles Epping [not North Rocks where I actually work, I was filling in for someone] and I'd been doing my menial tasks when I had to go and sweep the floors [one of my other menial tasks] so I went outside to start sweeping only instead of the dock area I was for some reason sweeping the driveway near the science labs at my old school [what is it about school? man I must be twisted]. I was happily sweeping away, when Trent walked past wearing the school uniform. I noticed and went up to say 'Hi' but he looked worried that he'd been spotted and started backing away so I stopped and said "Trent, Basically I just want to say Thankyou" so he stopped and we sat on the wall there that overlooked the school oval and just talked about nothing [literally...we were talking but not actually having a conversation...as in no words or anything...bizarre!] until all these people noticed Trent and started swamping him so I grabbed him and started running and then I woke up. Thats the second time I've dreamed about meeting Trent at my school and having him whisked away by other school people...only this time i kept hold of him...I wonder what would've happened...*sigh* In other news, I FINALLY saw a WHOLE Sez McLachlan clip last night!!! I've seen previously the last 30 seconds of "Good Enough" and "I Will Remember You" but I saw ALL of "Building A Mystery" last night!!! Hooray!!! I missed getting the first minute on tape...but I was overjoyed!!!!!! In Tori news...er...I wonder if my music tutor will spring and Tori on us again...first tut he played "The Wrong Band" and "Cornflake Girl", last week he did "Concertina" and "Datura" [I suggested Datura though]...in this weeks lecture "Me And A Gun" and "Winter" were played...Something from Pele today perhaps? I'm off to class now, I hope all of you have truly wonderful days and I'll see you all in my inbox later.
