I can't remember who its by...it was one of the first 'real' books i ever read. now i can't find a copy anywhere... I think my fave books ever would have to be "Beauty". Two books, both with the one title. one, by robin mckinley, is a wonderful telling of beauty and the beast [i've read this so often its falling apart]. the other, by sheri s. tepper, is a fascinating conglomerate of fairy tales that blend together to scare the shit out of someone who realises that its very possible what happens might happen [ie - me]. i can totally recommend these. oh, and "good omens" by neil gaiman & terry prachett [kate! i want my book back!] is tops too, very amusing. truth and beauty, Dan ;) ===== people honk at me i shake my fist sometimes give them the finger i don't know why i always lie to you - - jane siberry "barkis is willing" Get your free @yahoo.co.uk address at http://mail.yahoo.co.uk or your free @yahoo.ie address at http://mail.yahoo.ie ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 May 2001 22:33:55 +1000 From: "Kate Stowell" Subject: [oztori] info about new member hey - a little about me. i first heard tori at a friend's house about a year ago, and have slowly grown to adore her music. her works have inspired me to take up the piano again so i am constantly trying to play/sing tori songs myself. i read on thedent.com that she may be touring. if she is coming to OZ PLEASE EMAIL ME OR LET ME KNOW IMMEDIATELY. Instead, over the past day or so, I've found myself distracted by 'Franny and Zooey' (J D Salinger), which I was reading earlier in bed, and a little docket thing slipped out from between some of the back pages. I picked it up to look at it and it's a little receipt from the uni library showing the details of someone having taken the book out, and out of interest, I picked it up to have a look at that person's name and when they'd borrowed the book etc. The name on it was mine. From April 1999, the first time I read the book. I guess I do have a bit of a habit of tucking those docket things into the covers or using them as bookmarks and then forgetting about them. For some stupid reason, I think I'll leave it - and my latest one - in there.
