My youngest knew all the lyrics to all the Dels songs, including B Sides at 2 - and regularly corrected me when I sang the wrong thing. I beleive that was the best education they could have had. But they are 15 and 13 now - so they appreciate the git and cock thing at a different level - more phnarr phnarr or however they spell it in Viz. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Apr 2008 01:48:59 +0100 From: "Porl" Subject: Re: OV: booklet But it's true, he's got it right. I've just got back from a (horrfically named) "Battle of the bands" competition which we won (incidentally), this heat of it anyway, and I feel like both a Git and a Cock, for winning. Makes you wonder what it is that makes artists/bands/performers/songwriters want to further themselves in this way. To show themselves up to be better then others. I couldn't imagine what the other band is going through right now....to enter a Battle Of The Bands, only to be knocked out at the first round. What a blow that must be to them, to get eliminated at the first hurdle as not being good enough to make the grade. What label does that put upon the thing they hold most dear? And yet there is no way I'd want to lose like that....and yet in winning there is a cruel savoring of victory. It's like, I don't want to win, and yet I don't want to lose. And yet (now i come to think about it) the whole point of this email could be a veiled way of saying "I WON, I WON!!! Look at meeee!" And at the same time I couldn't give a fuck who likes us and who doesn't. disgraceful I feel right now like both a cock and a git. hehehe Porl - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jane Armstrong" To: Sent: Thursday, April 03, 2008 10:21 PM Subject: Re: OV: booklet > Quoting catherine jones : > >> My 4 year old picked it up and confidently spelt out C-O-C-K >> Children find the book very puzzling indeed, the 9 year old son of a >> frind >> of mine picked up my copy the other day and was very puzzled. >> But I feel it's good to get a good education early on. >> > I completely agree.
