I used to do as you suggest and purchase imports directly from amazon.co.uk, but since then a couple things have changed that have changed my habits. One of course is the dollar being worth less in the exchange rate, with the result that UK list price AND postage costs are significantly higher for US customers than they used to be. The other thing that's different is the emergence on Amazon.com of the sort of reputable, US-based, third party sellers who are able to offer imports for prices much more in line with what a domestic US cd would be. [To name names, the ones I've found most reliable, in descending order, are importcds.com, movie-mars.com, and caiman. But Amazon provides eBay style feedback on its third party sellers and almost all the dealers I've used have been just fine.] Plus the very reasonable $2.99 per item standard postage Amazon adds on to third-party sales, not to mention the much-less-delayed gratification of ordering from a domestic seller! : ) Note that I'm not talking about buying the import directly from Amazon.com, (an outrageous markup) OR from any of the above-mentioned dealers' own proprietary websites, where they might offer the disc itself for a slightly lower price, but tack on a much higher postage charge. Anyone else have ideas or opinions about ordering imports? (and I mean legitimate imports, not "imports" as code for "bootlegs"!) : ) ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V9 #38 *********************************
