I called the box office even though the site stated a sold out venue. I took a chance and they told me I was lucky that just a few tickets had been opened up for sale. Bingo. Wilco in Athens Georgia! I'm spending the the night there. Mini mommy vacation. Is my next vacation to only find a Dels cover band :( Kate In Marietta GA ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Mar 2006 22:56:42 -0000 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: RE: OV: OV Re: Wilco Every time I see Wilco mentioned I automatically think of the wonderful Wilko Johnson - former Dr Feelgood and now with his own band. We went to France with him a couple of years ago with the annual John Otway Dunkerque weekend and he is fantastic. He also did a Mad Bad and Dangerous tour around the UK with Otway and the Hamsters. That was an amazing set - climaxing with a rendition of Ian Dury's Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, played by all three bands with Otway on vocals - as Wilko's bass guitarist is one of the original Blockheads, Norman Watt-Roy. They also could be one of the ugliest bands around - see http://homepage1.nifty.com/wilkojohnson/index_EG.html although the dummer Monti is a bit gorgeous - the photo doesn't do him justice but makes Wilko and Norman look almost human. With DIY artists like myself, it takes them a while to get the stuff put up on their servers - we're not exactly high priority. I do know that the digital files and everything are in Apple's hands, so it's just a matter of time before they get it to where people can buy it. So keep checking. If I see it's up somewhere finally I'll let you know. Thanks so much to everyone who has bought the album or is planning to buy the album in the future. If you like the record I encourage you to write a review for CD Baby. http://cdbaby.com/review/sills2 Cheers, Dave ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Mar 2006 20:36:26 -0600 From: "Elizabeth Osborne" Subject: RE: OV: OV Re: Wilco Jane, I love you! The All Ugly Band could be a new thread on its own! I have been giving my boss a lot of S%$# because a friend of his is a "big fan" of Nickelback...yikes! Apparently the friend has bought a bunch of tickets to an upcoming concert...therefore my boss has been listening to NB - I hate to type that name!!! - and he agrees at how they suck...his only defense? That they are hopefully going to be LOUD! I told him "and you'll be DRUNK!"
