I am going to see them the 21st of this month in Kansas City and am interested to know if anyone has seen them live or any other stories you might have. I recently picked up a copy of I Am Trying To Break Your Heart-DVD and love them even more now that I have watched it. Feel free to e-mail me on or off list if you have anything to say. Thanks! They really rock live, I think they maybe won some best live act award last year. If you go to their website they usually have a live set available to download/listen to. If not, their MySpace site is currently playing Kicking TV - live album. Andrew On Wednesday, March 01, 2006, at 01:31PM, Elizabeth Osborne wrote: >Anyone a fan of Wilco? Where have you been all my life?? Of course you were here but I had no idea the OV mailing list still existed!!! I'm so happy and so excited to share my comon love for the Dels with someone!!! I've tried to read the latest posts where I've just found out about Justin's website and also about Mark Freegards MP3... I'm right now listening to Button Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll introduce myself: my name is Cristina and I'm from Barcelona (Spain). I've been a fan of the band for so many years!!! And quite in silence cause they never were that big in my country (I really don't understand why...). I was last february in Glasgow where I had the chance of listening for the first time live to Justin Currie. I really can't describe my feelings that day: a dream come true, at last!!!!!!!!!!! He played with With Strings Attached and the show was fantastic. He's got such a powerful presence on stage, and what a wonderful voice!!!! His set list was, including some of my fauvourite Dels songs: This side of the morning, Be my Downfall, No Surrender (amazing song, really!), Sleep instead of Teardrops and Nothing ever happens to finish the show... It was a really magic night for me. I talked to him after the show and he was lovely! The solo album is hopefully on the way... and also the other album co-written with Iain... So let's wait for it and keep our fingers crossed. They deserve the best luck in the world!!! A big hug to you all and I'll keep in touch! Primarily thanks to the efforts of a couple of OVers, I have been fascinated with Wilco since about '98, (you know who you are, and thanks again). And while 1998 seems to be quite some time ago, compared to those fans who have been following Jeff Tweedy's evolving path since Uncle Tupelo, its actually arriving late at the party. To tie the Dels into this thread, I think that Wilco's label, Nonesuch, which is a division of Warners, might be a good fit for the Dels. They picked up Wilco, a band with no hits and took a chance on them, and are noted for having a roster more inclined to artistry than sales. BTW- If you have not previously seen a show at the Uptown in KC, for what its worth, I like it and I think you'll have a good show there. It's an old Spanish Renaissance theatre similar in style to the Plaza area in KC, (although its located farther north, not in the Plaza). Personally, I think that Tweedy's writing is some of the very best being done today. There is something decidedly Beatle-ish going on in there, though it may not appear to be so on the surface. - -Ed ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Mar 2006 23:31:15 EST From: Asgarciapl@aol.com Subject: Re: OV: OV Re: Wilco I know I rant and rave about this guy Ray, but if any of you across the pond get a chance to go, you will not be sorry...I think he is opening for some guy named Gray...David Gray??
