I am really excited about Justins upcoming solo release - and am even more looking forward to it, now that its been described as very 'del amitri esque'... i cant wait. I totally agree that Justin is at his absolute best when writing sad, reflective, soulful songs I mean take the song - you love me'... simple - but a very powerful emotive song. I can't help, but hope that the Dels have a few more unreleased tracks that were destined to be B sides on the never to be released singles from 'Can you do me good'. If the 'Just before you leave' B sides are anything to go by - there could be a treat in store somewhere down the line.(cd part 2) I really think 'i'm an unbeliever' and 'you love me' are two excellent tracks. Maybe some of these discarded tracks have made it in some shape or form onto Justins solo cd? I also think the revival of the CD trees would be a great idea. I recently acquired a couple of live acoustic versions of a few dels songs recorded from Radio shows and the like and they are fantastic..... it just breathed a whole new life into the songs to hear it stripped down to its raw acoustic soul. The stand out tracks had to be 'Tell her this' and 'Driving with the brakes on'... what fantastic songs they are!!! When i introduce friends to the music of the Dels, they always seem to love it (those that give it a chance that is) and usually say at some stage..."How the hell did i not hear of those before" ? I guess others have the same experience? Anyway, thats it for now!! Okay, de-lurking for a while, I'm folowing the list almost on a daily basis. Very glad to get infected by this upcoming CD-fever. I'll buy one as soon as it's availlable. Special greetings to Alison, keep up the good work! Greetings from the Netherlands. It's nice to see an increase in posts that are on such an exciting topic! Also wanted to mention that I too have gotten hooked on the new Imogen Heap album "Speak for Yourself". I just missed her show in Detroit which was a bummer. Does anyone have a copy of her original cd "I Megaphone" that they'd care to sell? I've only been able to find it online for about $90.....yikes! I believe it's out of print. Indeed thanks to Allison for keeping us informed. I joined the list in '98 (I'm pretty sure, although I have been a rather rabid fan since '89)) when I was living in Seoul, and the posts have followed me through four other countries (the US, Russia, Ukraine, and now Turkey. I was born and grew up in the SF Bay area, however). Form your own opinions about it (i.e. "cool" or "pathetic"), but I have a distinct dels memory for everwhere I've lived, all of which commemorate "big life moments". I have also taken absolutely every opportunity to expose the dels to audiences that would otherwise not know them. I think perhaps the best one was using "Drunk In A Band" for examples of career choices during a business English class, although it has some stiff competition from blasting "Food For Songs" during a time of martial law and rioting in Seoul. Seeing as I am usually never anywhere near the places they have toured since "Waking Hours" came out (but I did see them in London when they were supporting that album. I can die happy), I get extremely jealous hearing about the tours and one-off shows, but they can also be a great source of happiness. It's far worse, however, when there aren't any shows to hear about! Okay, back to lurking. :) Claire - - Just give me the coffee and nobody gets hurt. Tired of spam? Yahoo! Obviously i am incapable of the technology involved but isn;t that was husbands are for? I have recently learned to work dvd player i n order to watch del amitri dvd. It's amazing what the prospect of the good perv at justin currie can do to a technophobe like me! Am i allowed to mention celebrity crushes on here or is a very highbrow gathering?
