It also has a lot of elements to the songs that didn't "make it" -- cynical and beautiful and chock full of things to think about. I hope you all know that if Justin hadn't specifically asked to not have the album shared, I would have set up a frickin' cd tree by now and you'd all have a copy. The main reason I didn't was because he asked me not to, not because I get some weird thrill out of having something other fans don't. :/ Quoting Dirk.Wonhoefer@eberle-augsburg.de: > Hi together, > > so we are not getting to hear Justins CD before it's released. Do I remember right that there is another album in the works? I seem to recall there was Justin's solo album, and then another record he was working on with Iain. Your comment makes me think maybe those were one in the same. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 19 Jan 2006 13:15:38 -0800 (PST) From: debbsc67 Subject: Re: OV: What's this fuzz about the solo CD all about, anyway? :) Excellent! When I read that vague message where Justin was saying that he didn't know if Dels fans would like it, I had visions of electronica. Whew! Thanks, Alison, for putting my mind at ease. I'll try to wait patiently 'til we can get our hands on the new tunes. debbie - --- Alison Bellach wrote: > I'd describe it as all the saddest Del b-sides. :P > > It's very Del Amitri-esque, imo, but that makes > sense to me since Iain and > Justin were always the two consistent parts of the > band. Big fan of Button Up as well. I know some of the band members and was THRILLED when Justin sang with them. Looking forward to the new cd to go along with all the others. It's really been great hearing from the new folks, the folks who've been reading but not writing, and those who've been MIA for a year or two! Glad to hear from you all! Keep it up! If you haven't written to OV before, or it's been a long time, pipe up and say hi! Maybe if there's enough interest again, we can start the CD Tree thing going again. For those of you that I promised a copy of "...and we all sing along like before", don't worry, I haven't forgotten you! Got some great interesting music in from several people for RFDA. Keep 'em coming! Otherwise you'll have to keep listening to my favorites!! Nothing like possible Dels-related music coming out to spring this place into action! Yes, I've been a lurker for a while. I've probably felt inclined to post before but you all seem like such a tight knit group -- I didn't want to barge in like the unwanted kid sister... Anyway, I have been a HUGE Del Amitri fan forever it seems. I was always a bit sad they didn't tour more, but I did see them in San Juan Capistrano a long time back. What's a cd tree? I have every Del Amitri cd I've ever been able to get my hands on, and even a few of the songs with Justin singing with Button Up. I'm guessing there are recordings other than the released cd's??? By the way, my name is Stephanie and I live in Southern California. Pleasure to "meet" all of you. Darren Holmquist wrote: Hi everyone! I have been infecting many of of my college brethen with Del amitri and they have all loved and have gone out and purchased CD's. There was usually at least an albums' worth of material released as b-sides. When they got to Some Other Sucker's Parade, they released 9 live tracks instead of b-sides for one of the singles (SOSP/Medicine). For Can You Do Me Good?, there was only the one single released, in 2 parts, so that left us with only 4 new b-sides. But, all in all, there's something like 60 b-sides officially released! And then with all the Del Amitri fans around the world, recording radio shows, live concerts, and TV programs, there is a plethora of live discs available on the traders circuit... and you're on one of those circuits! A CD Tree is a way of disseminating a live disc, without one person having to do a ton of duplicating. Here's the rules: - - No money changes hands. - - No officially released recordings - - You must fulfill your end of the deal - - You must fulfill your end of the deal in a timely manner A handful of people are chosen to be "branches" of the tree. They are sent copies of the show being "tree-ed". They receive a list of people that are their "leaves" of the tree. They make arrangements to make copies for those people. In exchange, the "leaves" send their branch a self addressed stamped padded envelope and a blank CD (or whatever trade is agreed upon). The "branch" makes the copy, slips it in the padded envelope and sends it back to the "leaf". Those who agree to be Branches, usually don't have to make more than 5 or 6 copies this way. Plus with this list, it makes it nice to not have to pay for overseas shipping! Because we can usually set up a branch in Britain; Europe, USA, Canada, and Antartica. Not that we have a listee in Antartica (that I know of). We've "tree-ed" several shows here on OV, and could start it up again if there's interest.
