I'd LOVE to see these videos, but couldn't find them. Where are they? Just last week I was watching my Dels DVD at work (shhh), since no one was here besides me and it was WAY too quiet in here, even when I had work. It was great. I had only seen a few of the videos before, so I really enjoyed them. Could have been bittersweet, but I didn't let it. I just took them for what they are and it reminded me of why I loved (still do!) these guys. Hope you all had a happy New Year! debbie - --- Jane Armstrong wrote: > And there was the recent Monday Night Misery Club > gig. I don't recall the origins, but I know Hogmanay has been around for a VERY long time...since the time of the Druids, I believe. The bit I like the best is the tall, handsome stranger bearing gifts. ;-) Oo la la! Here's a link to an article I read recently: http://heritage.scotsman.com/traditions.cfm?id=2454442005 The gifts are food, coal, and whisky, the coal standing for warmth. The part I don't like is the bit about scrubbing the dickens out of your house (I HATE doing windows ;-) and who darns socks any more? When I first heard about Hogmanay, it was explained to me that the women clean the house and the men come inspect the houses. I've only heard that once, though, and never read it, so I don't know how true that is. Anyway, I don't know if this answers all your questions, but I hope it's a start. :-) Happy New Year everyone! debbie - --- Rachel Wifall wrote: > Hello everyone and best wishes for 2006! > > Perhaps I missed a memo or two, but how was the > evening of misery?
