This is a widely-circulated half-truth. The total amount of relief donations doesn't include those made to private agencies, such as the Red Cross or the Salvation Army, it only refers to the amount the government gives. A small distinction, true, but could be misleading. Many of us are well informed and do not believe everything fed to us by politicians. It is the federal government's responsibility to take care of natural disaster relief and here Bush has failed miserably. Beside this, many of our reserve forces are in Iraq (and who put them there?) and are not available for domestic relief. I simply don't believe in swallowing what the government feeds us as the truth without first looking into it myself. Not all Americans follow the government with blinders on. Some of us have been taught to, and do, think for ourselves. We are not unpatriotic; we were told by our founding fathers to question our government and its actions. What happened to the rest of you?
