Reading back over the posts, in hindsight it seems all our hearts are in the same place even if confusion ensued regarding the intent of some of the emails. It really does seem like we were all on the same page but looking at it from a different angle. While it's true this is not a political discussion list, one characteristic of the OV'ers and DA fans in general is that we pay attention to what's going on in the world and are not brain-dead and numbed like so many others seem to be. That to me is heartening, even if we do fight about issues like so many bratty siblings; I think it means we care! In deferance to Darren, I will save my rant for the uk .org site... Andrew, I know I posted once about hearing the most goddawful 'Japanese classical' version of RTM in a grocery store that was so bad that I had to duck behind one of the endcaps to hide the fact I was laughing so hard I was crying! A butchering that bad had to be from someone with a hugely sick sense of humor-it still makes me laugh to think about it. Food for Songs keeps coming to mind this week, with it's 'I will not be a pawn' in the midst of all this tragedy and destruction;the holding on to dignity when there is nothing else left. Also, the one song I thought might be hit material on the new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club cd 'Howl' might be a victim of Medicine-like timing. Fault Line has the flood imagery lyric 'drowning in rising tide at my father's door'. Not necessarily what the song is about, but I never could figure out what Di had to do with Medicine either... Okay, windy blurb over...hope everyone is having a better day today.
