I was fortunate enough to watch them play a pirvate, intimate gig in a converted Cardiff church on Monday night. Just the best thing ever to go to a church with a bar, stand in front of a stage where the puplit was and be so close to the group that you could read the label on the inside collar of their t-shirts, never mind see the writing or pattern on their fronts. Can't praise the group highly enough for their tunes, musicianship and performance. They have now released two classic well crafted British pop albums and were able to replicate the songs with their many diversions brillkiantly well live. A lot of peope are comparing them to a quiryky Coldplay and while it's easy to see why, I thought they were very reminisicent of Squeeze in many. They embark on a major UK Tour in the Autumn in more sizeable venues. I'd highly recommend it. I'm having my own festival. Athlete this week in Cardiff U2 with The Killers in Cardiff next week and Super Furry Animals playing in a village hall near Cardiff the week after again. Excellent. cAN'T PRAISE THE GROUP HIGHLY ENOUGH FOR THEIR SONGS OR THEIR LIVE PERFORMANC ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V7 #68 *********************************
