Aren't you glad you weren't at this show?!?! Or if anyone was, yikes. debbie Elvis Costello fans walk out in disgust Norwich Evening News ^ | 5/26/05 | NAOMI CANTON NAOMI CANTON 26 May 2005 13:04 Outraged fans walked out in disgust last night after Elvis Costello arrived on stage several hours late because he was watching the football. Fantastic - that's rock'n'roll for you. Make me laugh reading about Norwich people being upset at paying #25 for their tickets as if they'd been to the most expensive gig in the world. The media coverage is very dramatic too - since when is going on stage at 9:40pm instead of 7:30 "several hours late"? Fact of the matter it was announced Elvis last weekend that he wouldn't be on stage until 9:30pm (instead of 8pm, not 7:30pm as the newspaper reported so he was 75 mins late). He is an avaid Liverpool fan and they were playing in the European Champions League Final. People weren't left to sit around - they put a support group on until he came onstage. Unfortunately for Elvis, the game went into extra-time and penalties and didn't finsih until 10:30ish so he had to leave it at its climax to go on stage which may explain him being a little unhappy. Bloody hell though, by nature, he's an angry man. Swearing at a rock concert and playing loudly eh? Well I never! Obviously I can understand the punters feeling let down but who wants their music stars to be civil, normal, bland and predictable all the time? ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V7 #62 *********************************
