Having seen them numerous times live, take it from me that it is a fantastic show and fantastic music from fantastic musicians, The Tubes were pioneers, creative in their appearence and video work and always put on awesome stage shows, all backed upby some great songs. If you've never seen them live, don't miss the chance now. Wishing everyone well and hope you're all in good form. See you in Stourbridge, Bristol or Birmingham if you happen to be there. Dec 5 - Rock CafC) 2000, Stourbridge, West Midlands Dec 6 - Shepherds Bush Empire, London Dec 7 - The Carling Academy, Liverpool Dec 8 - King Tutbs Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow Dec 9 - The Carling Academy, Birmingham Dec 10 - The Carling Academy, Bristol Dec 11 - The Academy 3, Manchester University "THE TUBES WILD WEST TOUR" COMING TO THE UK DECEMBER 2004 The Tubes, the outrageous San Francisco-based theatrical rock band, best known for their outlandish, no-holds-barred rock concerts and the satirical American parody anthems 'White Punks On Dope', 'Mondo Bondage' and 'What Do You Want From Life', have just announced the December 2004 UK Tour Dates for their forthcoming concerts - 'The Tubes Wild West Tour'. The forthcoming UK tour will include the original members of the Tubes - Fee Waybill (lead vocals), Prairie Prince (drums), Roger Steen (guitar), and Rick Anderson (bass), plus new members Gary Cambra (keyboards) and David Medd (synths). The tour is a warm-up to the band's forthcoming studio album which will be released in 2005. Lead vocalist and front man, Fee Waybill says, "The Wild West concept of the show is full of unexpected surprises and fun, and UK audiences will be in for a treat." "The show kicks off with an overture of Spaghetti western movie themes hosted by MC Wild Bill Fee," adds Waybill. "Other onstage personas will include a Mexican bandito/Mariachi singer, a Mad Cow Auctioneer/Chainsaw Butcher, and a Snake Oil Salesman called Diamond Dick." Waybill is also planning to bring back his popular stage personas, Mondo Bondage Gimp, and the infamous drug induced British rock star Quay Lewd, the latter who will be the red Indian of the show. As the quintessential satirists of American culture, the Tubes were the first to combine theatrical rock extravaganzas with great musicianship. Despite being repeatedly banned for their uncensored live concerts, during November 1977 the Tubes sold out six nights at the Odeon Hammersmith, and recorded the live album 'What Do You Want From Live', which was subsequently released the following year. Their concerts involved mock bondage rituals, simulated sex, and a 12-foot high rock star, 'Quay Lude', singing 'White Punks On Dope', exploding televisions, chainsaws and an array of semi-nude dancers. Some say they were about 15 years ahead of Madonna, and light years ahead of the politically correct. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Oct 2004 20:44:52 +0100 From: "Joe Brady" Subject: RE: OV: UK Site They closed it down due to lack of sense of humor..
