Don't really see why people are complaining about it! Its not Del Amitri but then half is Justin singing and the songs are good... I'm sure this was mentioned months ago but who is the other singer? And do we know how the writing was split between them? Are they a Lennon/McCartney or a Morrisey/Marr team :-) That's all, Adam _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself with cool new emoticons http://www.msn.co.uk/specials/myemo ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Apr 2004 13:11:45 +0100 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: OV: Bimbo Some band called Tarka is releasing Bimbo In The Limo. Don't know why UDS aren't releasing it - I would have thought they would want a single right now to boost Album sales. Have a listen to it at http://www.tarkamusic.com/ There are three versions - including a cleaned up version for radio. I didn't see any mention of Justin or UDS on the site either (the guy wrote your debut single, maybe you should give him a plug). The dreamy hypnotic stuff that plays on the main page is far more interesting. The blond chick is kinda cute though. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Apr 2004 16:52:46 -0500 From: Alison Bellach Subject: Re: OV: Bimbo Oh dear, that sounds terrible. To be honest, I'm not really surprised that they don't give credit to Justin. Nobody really comes out and says yeah, this is our first single but no we didn't write it .... it reminds me a little of the way Minibar recorded "Choked Up" for their debut album. It sounded exactly the same as the Whiskeytown version but I don't remember them mentioning on their website that that particular song was written by Ryan Adams. Anyhow, who would they credit it to ... Justin or Jason? Most people would just say "Who?????" anyway! Yes, their version of Choked Up sounds a lot like the Whiskeytown version, but the Whiskeytown version wasn't actually released until fairly recently (and not on the album it was recorded for). And if I'm not mistaken, over here at least, the lead single was Holiday From Myself - which was not the choice of the band (they didn't want it as the lead off track on the album either), not that it mattered because the band got dropped by Universal right after the record was released. I also recall reading stories about how they came to hear the original and record their version of the song, giving full credit to Mr. Adams. They just put out a new one not long ago, it's pretty good. It's also just bizarre that of all the songs to cover, this band would choose Bimbo In The Limo and choose that as their first single. At least Choked Up could've been a hit, Bimbo In The Limo likely will not be. She Cuts Her Own Fringe should be the first UDS single. That's a great pop tune. I always thought the line in Drink was "Barrymore's pool" - not sure which famous member of the family of actors he's specifically referring to though (and I can't be bothered to know if I spelled it right either). Lionel? John? Drew? Can someone who actually has the record tell us how the liner notes are? Are there lyrics included? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Apr 2004 09:39:34 +0100 From: "Hilary Gray" Subject: OV: Barrymore Michael Barrymore, British entertainer who came out as gay a few years ago after an long and apparently happy marriage.
