Come on Joe, quit beating around the bush and tell us what you really think! And I thought it was just the songs that sucked. To hear that much talent wasted on such drivel is to experience a whole new level of irony. Which may indeed be the point, as I certainly can't for the life of me find any other that is worthwhile. Why wouldn't JC prefer to sing about something he, (to say nothing of his audience), would care one iota about? Actually, I thought the singing on the show and the UDS album is very good- I just don't hear a single song that I can relate to in any way. Maybe it's just a personal problem on my account. If this proves to be successful venture for JC, more power to him. Also, someone played a couple of nice guitar iicks on the radio show, but- honestly, I doubt that even Django Reinhardt could overcome the malaise of subject matter in these songs. Nevertheless, even though I cannot fathom what in the world JC is trying to do with this project, I continue to hold out hope that at some time in the future he will pursue a serious shot at songwriting, which is something that really could break him free of his Del Amitri past, if that is what he is trying to do. They seemed to be messing around somewhat but musically OK. Justin often gets the giggles on live radio sessions. Justin only sang one song, Kevin sang 2 and Jim sang one. They kept to their UDS persona and no mention was made of their real identities. I have got a good recording but Eddie's mucked around with the PC and for some reason my Line In doesn't work so I've not been able to transfer it to CD. Will send you a copy ASAP Darren.
