Obviously Justin and Kevin have been around long enough to have the business savvy to make sure everything's above board, but I can't help wondering if Justin is tied down to another publisher so can't release songs under his own name. Hmmm interesting. Any performance royalties (money paid to writers & publishers from broadcast or live performances) will get funneled to their true identities. Just as royalties from songs written by "Bono and The Edge" end up in the pockets of Paul Hewson and David Evans, and all songs credited to "Sting" end up in Mr. Sumner's accounts, so too will any Herring/Barr money find it's way into the hands of McDermott & Currie (after of course, UMP take their piece!). I think Justin signed on with Polygram for publishing when the Dels signed to A&M. Odds are good that he had to part with his publishing as part of their record deal. Eventually all Polygram holdings ended up under the Universal Music Publishing banner. My guess is that they just want to make the illusion complete by having the songs credited to Herring/Barr rather than McDermott/Currie. I'd bet that they won't be responding to shouts of "Hey Justin!" or "Yo, Kevin!" at the UDS shows and will sign things as their alternate identities as well. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2004 09:47:38 -0800 (PST) From: doug brown Subject: Re: OV: Re: UDS copyright Publishing under a pseudonym is a time honored tradition and no different than publishing books and whatnot under a false name. The only complication these days is that your publisher needs to know your real name for tax purposes.
