It's sounding a lot more concrete, though, which is a good thing. I'd loved to have seen the picture, but knowing they've got a label and a tentative release date is more important. :-) Thanks Jane! I hope all is well with you and your family. Happy Holidays! debbie - --- Jane Armstrong wrote: > Did other people get this email? Haven't had time to listen to it yet, but the friend liked them enough to share it so that's a nice testimonial. Do you like this album? Ed - good to see you here again! Now HOW many years has it been since we were in Chicago??? That was one fun gathering. 'Fraid I agree with you about the UDS not being of Albert Lee's level as far as instrumentalists go; I think that is the main flaw in the album, its simply not up to the standards we got accustomed to on DA albums with Iain, Andy, Justin, Mark and whoever the second guitarist was at the time. Also, on the UDS I think that other vocalist besides Justin is very weak too. I let my family hear some of the album and they literally booed that guy out of the car cd player! They liked hearing Justin sing again, but were very disappointed in the overall sound of the album. And I am going to venture a theory as to why the sarcasm has become a bit boring - he's still getting down about the same thing; still negative, still bitter, still sarcastic. One should either grow up emotionally and leave the bitterness behind, find some happiness or resolution to the frustration, or put the proverbial bullet in one's noggin by now. We do have a choice in our attitude, and that choice shapes our perception of reality. I guess I've chosen hope, chosen to focus on the positive things in life. I've gotten past bitterness and found some real purpose & happiness in life... if one doesn't get past a negative attitude, its going to poison the future. Sure I can listen to ironic songs and remember how it was when I was feeling like that, but enough is enough. Its frustrating to me, all of it. Actually, irony and sacasm seem to be about the only thing JC is interested in these days.. Perhaps JC is consciously saving heartfelt songs about personal relationships as being the domain of Del Amitri. At this point, it kinda appears that he has nothing but disdain for such things. How about a little feedback RE everyone's take on the UDS stuff. I've spun it three times, and despite the sugar coating of melody, which seems to flow as freely as turning on a faucet, I find myself bored with JC's sacrasm. What am I missing? There surely was a good deal of effort put into the product, but personally, I find it to be a far cry from what was irresistable about the Dels circa WH, CE and Twisted. Not to mention the lack of Iain's wonderful guitar playing. I'd like to hear the others' tracks as well as any feedback on my live version of "Be My Downfall." BTW, the artist who covered "Drowned On Dry Land" for one of the earlier tribute cds was simply brilliant... made me start covering the song myself!
