But then my hard drive died and I learnt the important lesson of backing up important things - like Del Amitri b-sides. I've been coping without them for a while, but am now at the point where I want to listen to 'Evidence' and 'Canned Laughter' and can't. I know Dirk puts some b-sides on his site, but the download section seems down at the moment. Does anyone have a similar mp3 collection that I could exploit? I used to upload something new every week, but I've been busy and wanted to use my sparetime otherwise. Well, I will update the website this evening, I promise. :-) And I'll put up the songs you mentioned for you. Are there any more b-sides you're searching for? Or does anyone else from this list want a song he/she never had the chance to listen to? Please email me at allyourlife@hotmail.com and tell me which b-sides I shall put up. bye, Dirk ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2003 12:15:29 -0400 From: "The Gardners" Subject: OV: Re: oppositeview-digest V5 #138 "Eeyore-styled pessimism"?!? That's rich - LOL!!! TTFN Susan 48 CHANGE EVERYTHING DEL AMITRI Del Amitri were part of a new generation of Glasgow groups including the Bluebells and Lloyd Cole and the Commotions.... The craftedness of the band's songwriting and the sense of irony apparent in Currie's lyrics underpin The Ones That You Love Lead You Nowhere and Be My Downfall. His Eeyore-styled pessimism is encapsulated on Always The Last To Know, which remains, for many, Del Amitri's finest moment. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Oct 2003 05:59:07 +0100 From: "scott wallace" Subject: Re: OV: Re: oppositeview-digest V5 #138 It's true but. The only problem DA has is the image. Their songs could have been major money spinners with other bands, but a half-hearted "f**k the system" style ain't gonna work. It's not the music that's been the problem, it's the effort to show it off. Think Jesus Saves with the White Stripes or Food For Songs with the Sereophonics (or any other Twisted track for that matter), guaranteed hits. If you want success it takes work, not telling people to f**k off. It's a shame that such great music will be forgotten after we're gone. >From: "The Gardners" >Reply-To: "The Gardners" >To: , >Subject: OV: Re: oppositeview-digest V5 #138 >Date: Wed, 22 Oct 2003 12:15:29 -0400 > >"Eeyore-styled pessimism"?!?
