Can anyone enlighten the rest of us as to what is going on with this recording? Is "The Uncle Devil Show" really a show or is it the name of anew band or is it just a pseudonymn for one off recording project. The only google references I see are either this album or an episode of the "new" Twilight Zone. Does anyone know what's up with this? Interesting that Amazon (US) has the listing for the album as an import, yet Amazon (UK) doesn't list it all yet. After a 2nd or 3rd encore composed mostly of a Beatles medly, JC laments not having rehersed anything else recently. To which Ian launches into a grindy version of Ace of Spades! I was blown away. At that time Ian had really long hair and proceeded to whip his head fore and back with his locks almost getting stuck in the guitar stings! Never forget it! Iain's sung Ace of Spades quite a few times. During the 1998 UK tour it was one of several on a sort of "lottery" - and he performed it many times during the tour. He had his mic set up so it was above him - just like Lemmy does. It always went down a storm. He's not get the best voice in the world - but Ace of Spades suits him. I totally agree, Ace of Spades does suit him. I couldn't help but wonder whether he had missed his calling as I saw his enthusiatic rendition. Thank goodness for us he elected to play with Justin instead! It also helps me understand the source for the grindier Del tunes like Being Somebody Else (one of my favorites). I still can't find any mention of the album on any UK music site, and I note that the 'import' release date on Amazon.com keeps on being put back - it's now July 15th. . Still, I'm salvaging my conscience with the thought that a majority of people here will buy the album when it's released and thus not deprive the artists of their income. :-) Hilary ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Jul 2003 23:43:39 EDT From: SngWrite1@aol.com Subject: OV: Hooray for Uncle Devil I am loving the two UDS songs I've heard. I eagerly await the album, so I can read the liner notes and find out who played what, who wrote what, who produced what, and who mixed what. I'm a liner note geek, those things matter to me. She Cuts Her Own Fringe is my favorite of the two. Very Beatle-y (production-wise and musically). How are the McDermott sung tracks by comparison? I wonder what their hopes are for this album. Just for fun or are they hoping for a run at the charts? Who knows if they're even going to acknowledge that it's really them, maybe they'll use pseudonyms. Guess we'll wait and see. ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V5 #99 *********************************
