Just thought I'd let you all know that I recently downloaded a track called "Gilbert O'Sullivan" by a band called 'Uncle Devil Show' from the album"Terrible Beauty". If I'm not mistaken Justin Currie is singing lead vocals. The song screams Del Amitri all over it. I found it on WinMX but it was pretty hard to download. Take a listen if you can. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Jul 2003 16:43:33 +0100 From: "Joe Brady" Subject: Re: OV: JC on new song I bet its not? After doing a bit more digging around I found this quote on Del Amitri.com's news page: ...something of terrible beauty that MIGHT be of interest to fans of esoteric pop music... The track I mentioned comes from an album called "Terrible Beauty" (which is released next week) could this tie in with the above quotation? I think it could. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 14:49:53 EDT From: SngWrite1@aol.com Subject: OV: Let's hear it! The name "The Uncle Devil Show" apparently comes from a 1985 episode of the "New" Twilight Zone. I can't find a description of the episode though. Can't seem to find much info at all on the release itself, Amazon lists it as being released July 7th (as an import), but most other sites don't even list it at all. Hmmmm... By the way Gilbert O'Sullivan was a singer whose big hit was "Alone Again (Naturally)" And then there's this... JC's answer from either MM or NME way back when: "WHO'S UNDERRATED? Gilbert O'Sullivan. Used 'Babe' with cunning ingenuity" (Keep in mind he also said Mozart was overrated for failing to use 'Babe' successfully). But we really need to hear it to decide for ourselves. Can someone post an mp3 of it? Pleeeeeeease? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Jul 2003 19:53:13 +0100 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: OV: Re: The Germans They've got a website at http://www.thegermans.co.uk/ - with pictures of Kris at a gig in May and a review of same gig. Tickets are only #5. http://www.thecharlotte.co.uk/ This is a great little venue - good sound and a 2 am bar licence. Went up there a couple of weeks ago to see Otway. Met a guy there who was a huge Damned fan - he's seen them over 300 times and has their logo tattooed all over his body (well the bits I saw anyway!) If anyone is interested in going, the Holiday Inn is almost opposite and if you book more than 2 weeks in advance it's only #46 a room. I may well be tempted as I've got a free weekend.... But it does sound like you've cracked it Anneka. Uncle Devil Show appears to be named after an episode of the Twilight Zone. What with this and the Button Up thing, it looks like our Justin's finally ready to burst back out into the limelight. Wonder about the other band members though.... - -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Visit my website: http://www.janea.me.uk or http://www.janea.me.uk/Delpage.html MSN Messenger: janea57@hotmail.com Get the fastest, smallest and most powerful TV guide for your PC. My dad was downloading some Gilbert O'Sullivan songs (yes, he still has a fan) and when he listened to it he thought he recognised the voice, as he is also a Del Amitri fan! So I went onto the Dels website to see if there was any more info on the song, that's when I saw the "terrible beauty" and put two and two together... - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Wednesday, July 02, 2003 8:00 PM Subject: OV: how did you find it? > How did you decide to download the Uncle Devil Show track?
