You can listen to several cuts at Lloyd's website. Unfortunately he's without a North American deal again, so he has to buy and import copies of his own album to sell through his website (so it's $20 plus shipping). And a fabulous band called Minibar release their second album, "Fly Beneath The Radar" on Tuesday (with a four song bonus disc). These London transplants are now based in Los Angeles. Good sounding stuff, and real nice guys too. Their version of Whiskeytown's "Choked Up" was in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (and on their T-Bone Burnett produced debut "Road Movies") - so you might've heard 'em before. Gillian Welch has a fine new record out now called "Soul Journey" and this time she expands on the minimalist approach of her 3 previous records to add some full band tracks. And the Eels are back with "Shootenany" which is also out now. I was a little let down by their last album ("Souljacker") but this one is much stronger throughout. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Jun 2003 15:08:17 -0700 (PDT) From: debbsc67 Subject: Re: OV: OT: new stuff that's not the Dels - --- SngWrite1@aol.com wrote: > I should have the new Lloyd Cole album, "Music In A > Foreign Language" by the > end of next week! Also, you could order it directly from Amazon.co.uk and including shipping to North America it would be about $20 *total*, if you're looking to "bargain shop." ;-) There are probably even cheaper ones available, too. Speaking of cheap entertainment in the UK...I think someone on this list (quite some time ago!) had mentioned a place online that sells cheap DVDs. Does that ring any bells with anyone? > And a fabulous band called Minibar release their > second album, "Fly Beneath > The Radar" on Tuesday (with a four song bonus disc). > These London transplants > are now based in Los Angeles. Jay & Silent Bob...nah, not if I can help it. :-) I wouldn't mind checking out the band, though. Good music is a hard thing to come by sometimes. > Gillian Welch has a fine new record out now called > "Soul Journey" and this > time she expands on the minimalist approach of her 3 > previous records to add > some full band tracks. > > And the Eels are back with "Shootenany" which is > also out now. I've pretty much switched my music appreciation for movie appreciation lately. debbie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I just obtained an autographed single by the dels. The single is KTTG and according to the back is a special addition. All the band have signed in gold pen, except Iain who has signed in silver and has drawn a big silver guitar under his name. Fantastic. This is just great. bye - -- From UNE's web<->e-mail interface. http://pobox.une.edu.au/neomail/ ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V5 #84 *********************************
