If they are looking for a new drummer it implies that they are doing something I suppose. I'd imagined that they had packed it in. Have been having too much fun being insulted and insulting on the UK site. I had to post a response to the person's inquiry re: the rumored Ramshead show. Don't write this one off so quickly folks. I checked out their website and they seem fairly 'deeppockets', not your average seedy bar. And most interesting is they book shows into the Avalon theatre and Maryland Center for the Performing Arts, both of which are comparable to the venues on the UK tour-maybe not quite as large but with the same ambience, sound quality, etc. Many well known, dare I say mature, acts have played there and Marshall Crenshaw gave the place a 'three thumbs up' rating according to a quote on the website! And they book alot of the same acts that play our Neighborhood theatre here in Charlotte, which is making my little concert craving heart go pitterpat!! The REALLY cool thing about the Avalon is the picture shows regular chairs and tables as opposed to locked down rows of seats. Woohoo-jump around!I think we all need to adjust our thinking re: the scale at which DA are going to be able to perform for awhile until they can take the reins for themselves and get their career on track. Without corporate sponsorship, these venues are the best they can hope to play right now. ClearChannel et al often control the next size larger venues and certainly the big venues, and except for maybe the 'local' stage, you're just not going to see independent acts performing where they are calling the shots. Fact of life right now, at least until somebody somewhere finally nails them in a lawsuit. I think that will eventually happen. The shift is taking place toward quality acts being independent again with grassroots word-of-mouth marketing taking hold, at least around here. You can feel something happening in the air and everywhere I go people are talking about how we need to take the music back. I think as Del fans, we need to be supportive of whatever touring/marketing approach they take. Jane, I love you but there are plenty on very good bands who tour every day for less than the figure you quoted. There are ways around the bloated rocktour budget thing. Maybe with a lot less spectacle-but often with alot more heart and intimacy. Sign up for the Ramshead list (if you could get it to work, I couldn't) and at least show that there is some interest out there in seeing DA in the States. Well what I meant was that it was rumoured that Mark had sought employment elsewhere. I don't know if they are actually DOING anything or if they are really looking for a new drummer!
