I had thought that it would go full circle and end up with something like The Van Morrison song "Brown Eyed Girl" was covered by Del Amitri. Otherwise it seems a little pointless. It also falls down part way through sort of when they say Traffic covered the Spencer Davies Group song "I'm A Man", but it was Steve Winwood's song and he was in both, so it sort of wasn't a cover. But as you say Alison, it was weird!! Jane ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 13:06:37 EST From: MinervAthene@aol.com Subject: Re: OV: By four o'clock it thawed ... WE HAVE A WINNER! CONGRATULATIONS! And for your prize ... a bad joke: After Quasimodo's death, the bishop of the Cathedral of Notre Dame sent word through the streets of Paris that a new bell ringer was needed. The bishop decided that he would conduct the interviews personally and went up into the belfry to begin the screening process. After observing several applicants demonstrate their crap skills, he had decided to call it a day. Just then, an armless man approached him and announced that he was there to apply for the bell ringer's job. The bishop was incredulous. "You have no arms!" No matter," said the man. "Observe!" And he began striking the bells with his face, producing a beautiful melody on the carillon. The bishop listened in astonishment; convinced he had finally found a replacement for Quasimodo. But suddenly, rushing forward to strike the bell, the armless man plunged headlong out of the belfry window to his death in the street below. The stunned bishop rushed down two hundred and ninety five church steps, and when he reached the street, a crowd had gathered around the fallen figure, drawn by the beautiful music they had heard only moments before. As they silently parted to let the bishop through, one of them asked, "Bishop, who was this man?" "I don't know his name," the bishop sadly replied, "But his face rings a bell". -Doug ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 13:19:00 -0500 From: "Rachel Wifall" Subject: OV: "Snow in this soulless city, covers up the cracks in the road..."l >Which brings us to this week's Del Amitri trivia question! >First one to name a Del Amitri song with the word that sums our entire >Winter in one word wins a prize! >And the word is .... They put the word "snow" in one song on each of their 3 good albums. Maybe they should try that again. :) - -Doug . Yahoo!
