I absolutely cannot wait! It's a great venue for great bands, the Fox Theater. That's the first place I ever saw Del Amitri, too. Those are the two closest shows to me and they don't interfere with my impending travels to Austin, TX for this year's SXSW festival. I also wrote a pleading email to their management yesterday begging for an interview for my college radiostation. My college town is precisely halfway between D.C. and Atlanta and they have a day between shows in those two cities so I'm hoping they'll feel generous and stop in. Here's hoping. josh. It's very sad that even my local Sainsbury's were selling off Waking Hours at #3.99. Seems like the Dels have been permanently relegated to the bargain bins :-( What a sad state. I know they haven't officially announced that they've split and Justin is promising new stuff. But it certainly looks like they've been written off by the rest of the music industry. Why would I find it depressing? Because it just reminds me of the absence of the Dels. The absence of a release of the album in the states, resulting in their absence from our shores. Then comes the end of the year and they are absent from every magazine's "best of" polls. The absence of any word from them for months. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder though, but it's a fine line between taking a break and getting filed under "what ever happened to"... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Jan 2003 21:26:16 -0800 From: "Jason Fiber" Subject: OV: RE: Sad state of affairs Not necessarily. I know of at least ONE label that will be releasing (okay, re-releasing) the first Del Amitri album in the first quarter of this year. Digitally remastered, 4 bonus tracks, new liner notes written by Justin... *grin* - -------------------------------- Jason Fiber jason@superfectarecordings.com - -----Original Message----- From: owner-oppositeview@smoe.org [mailto:owner-oppositeview@smoe.org] On Behalf Of Jane Armstrong Sent: Sunday, January 05, 2003 1:57 PM To: Dels Subject: OV: Sad state of affairs I've been looking round the record stores recently, and Del Amitri CD's have been greatly reduced in price to #5.99 - #6.99 (a full price recording can cost #16.99 - CYDMG was the only album I found at this full price anywhere).
