Shit, I'm in shock. Only 50, no more details yet. The Clash and their music provided a soundtrack to my life from my teens. Was into them from their first single and stayed with them. Their 1,600 tonnes tour gigs (promoting the London Calling album) gig at Sophia Garden on the 1,600 tonnes tour will always be one the greatest gigs and occasions of my life. It was an experience I can't imagine ever being bettered. Their attitude to life, authorities and standing up for themselves has (directly or indirectly) been a huge influence on the way I am and I'm so grateful for it. Joe played Newport, near my home, just last month and for personal reasons, I couldn't be there. I wished I had been there now. The previous night, Mick Jones and Strummer got on stage in Acton, London and played together for the first time in 18 years - thank God they did it just in time. Very sad and shocking news but thanks for your music and the memories Joe, your legacy will live with me forever. The greatest of time, music and memories. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2002 07:34:13 -0500 From: "B M" Subject: Re: OV: JOE STRUMMER R.I.P. Ugh! Not the way to start the hollidays. Well for one I am crushed. It's too early from me to form any rational thoughts. Good luck to you Joe.
