Sparky is a major reason for the turnaround, the players love and respect him, so do the fans. I don't think there's a magic ingreadient but Sparky has instilled passion, belief and confidence back into the team - something we lost under the likes of Bobby Gould (tyhe clown). He just made us hard to beat to the extent that we've only conceded 1 goal in 4 competitve internationals and 2 in the last 5 friendlies. If you don't concede, you get results and with the likes of Ryan Giggs, Simon Davies, Craig Bellamy, John Harston and Craig Bellamy going forward - I honetsly can't think of any teams with much better. It's undoubtedly a far better attacking unti than England currently have. Still a long way to go but I really do fancy us to make the Euro Finals and we'll be grateful and appreciate. I think half the country would go!! Just liking this to music for a moment, the next Welsh away international is in Yugoslavia next April. It's just about confirmed that Super Furry Animals will play a gig for the few thousand fans expected to make the journey. How great is that?? As far as rugby is concerned, it's a media myth, and always has been, that it is the sport of Wales. It's big 5 days per year when Six Nations are played but it's more of a social thing. Club rugby has piss poor attendances and always has done. More people watch football in Wales, more play it and there are 100's more football clubs. Welsh rugby has lost its way because schools can't force you to play the sport anymore (I wasn't allowed to play football until I was 14 in school) and the death of mining and heavy industry has lost the exact environment that create dmany of our fine players. Can't see it ever recovering. Shame but I, for one, won't be weeping too much about it. p.s. to Joe Brady & Tony Johnson Just wondering how your beloved QPR, the supposed greatest team in football, got on against Cardiff City at home last Friday night? Only lost 4-0 to us eh? Good job we only played for the final half hour. Just 13 points behind us after 20 games, never mind. ;>) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Dec 2002 19:11:24 -0600 From: "Ed Minton" Subject: OV: Harrison Trib- No Del Content Curious if there are any first hand reports about the Harrison Tribute Concert available from anyone on this list- Ed ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V4 #292 **********************************
