JC is working on new stuff at the moment, Iain is planning something that is possibly going to show before xmas - Can anyone say "live"? Iain and Kris have been busy producing for Eastern Lane, who are signed to Rough Trade Records. Should see the outcome of that next year. Kevin Cawthorne Webmaster http://www.delamitri.co.uk - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - ------------------------------------ I don't know if this has already been discussed, but I've heard that the boys have broken up, and Justin's going solo. Not that this is a big surprise to anyone given all this past years events. This info is secretly from a friend of a friend who knows.... So, if this is all common knowledge, sorry for wasting your time. If this is new info, sorry to be the barer of bad news. Apparently the other guys were given a handsome severence package...and Justin (and maybe Ian?) are off on their own. Kev, When you say JC is working on new stuff - does they mean new stuff for Del Amitri or new stuff for himself??? Sounds like they are working yes - but not really together as a band does it? But no one had seen hide nor hair of Mr. Currie in all that time. Well, it turns out the reporters staked out the wrong flat, one that was unoccupied. Currie was taking out the trash one morning from his flat across the street and noticed the phalanx of paparazzi in front of the neighbour's house. "What's all this then?" Currie asked of one of the shutterbugs, who apparently didn't recognize Currie, who had recently shaved his entire head and trademark sideboards. He was told that they were gathered to catch a glimpse of the reclusive lead singer of Del Amitri. "That tosser? He lives there? Friggin' rock star punk," Currie replied. While enjoying his anonymity, Currie was spotted by another photographer who did recognize him. He was soon surrounded. When quizzed on what he's been up to, he responded, "I went on holiday and I've been writing songs. Record deal or no deal, it's what I do. I'm useless at so called 'real' jobs!" At last the truth is known. As for the other members of Del Amitri, all that we have learned is that keyboardist Andy Alston has opened the first Andy's Accordion Studio in London, where he aims to teach aspiring accordionists proper technique. Alston eventually hopes to expand into Lincoln. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Nov 2002 23:59:47 -0000 From: "Joe Brady" Subject: OV: Re: not much news No wonder he told you all to fuck off? - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2002 10:39 PM Subject: OV: not much news > Dateline Scotland: > Reporters have been camped outside of Justin Currie's Glasgow flat since the > band he fronted, Del Amitri, were released from their contract with Mercury > Records several months ago.
