Did someone say Rush!?! They are my favourite band (sorry Dels relegated to 2nd). I spent about #1500 to see them in the summer (flew over from England), stayed in Toronto for 6 days and caught the show there (first Rush show, yes I cried!) and then onto Milwaukee and finally Chicago. Easily the best experience of my life. I can't say enough good things about Rush. And Geddy looks totally cool if you ask me, something must have happenned in about '94 'cause since then he has been coolness personnified in my opinion. The man oozes coolness, even if he has got a big nose :o) And they're still going strong after all this time, to be honest, I think Vapor Trails (released this April) could be their best album. It's mroe of a hard rock album and they've ditched all the kyboards. But Ged has used his voice to fill where the keys would be, and Alex has layered his guitars to give a very rich and thick sound. Ged is the reason I started palying bass, he really is the best in the business. And also Neil Peart is (again in my opinion) THE best drummer of all time. And Alex Lifeson just simply doesn't get enough credit as a guitarist (my joint favourite guitarist). Sorry to ramble on, if someone mentions Rush I get all excited. Hold on, there's a white van with square wheels just pulled up outside my house..... Cheers Chris --- Kristy McDonald wrote:

Hullo - were you reading my mind?? I love Sprit - I've seen them live 4 times,
and they are jut the BEST - okay, 5th best, maybe 7th. But they are great. I
have a few of their CD's, and they never disappoint. Stuff like "Save this
house" and "Political" are my favourites, although "If Venice is Sinking" makes
me belly laugh every time I hear it. Hell, the Pope thought he had a problem
with Madonna!

Needless to say, as a proud Canadian, eh?, I love Rush because they're Rush -
let's face it, Geddy Lee is nothing to look at. I think SCTV is genius, and yes
Virginia, I have gotten up close and personal with a moose. I AM Canadian!
Well, maybe not totally. I don't drink beer.

Kristy in Canada, eh?

P.S. - I guess Debbie and I will meet soon in a retirement home. Miami or
Victoria - your choice!

This is one of my favorite songs! I'm not being critical of Aleksandr, I'm just expressing my shock at hearing this for the first time. I want to agree with Josh at the fabulous punch the first 5 SOSP songs have. What a way to start a CD! I think SOSP is great, although I don't know where I'd rank it amongst the others. I've never really put them in any order, as far as I can recall. This is one of my > favorite songs! I was shocked at that, too. Although I can see where "High Times" might not make as clear sense, "Just Like a Man" is really straightforward in its "I left my woman and now I regret it because I want her back, but she's found someone else" theme. He feels, being a man, he's not permitted to show it, so he has to "be dignified" and "soldier on." I think the lyrics are outstanding here . . where have the Del Amitri songs like this gone? ;-/ Also, I've gotta agree with Jane, that "High Times" is one of my faves on SOSP. Is it possible it only appeals to us "children of the 60's?" I can only speak for myself, but everytime I hear "catch the cosmic vibe," I'm back in the days of "The Mod Squad" and VW buses with flowers painted all over. ;-) My order of favorite Del CD's never changes: Waking Hours Change Everything Twisted SOSP Del Amitri CYDMG While I love SOSP as a whole, I have to admit that it has the most songs on it (of my top four) that I skip.
