Exactly - with a record label that seem pretty unwilling (from what we can see) to do anything for these boys let alone give them the publicity they need to move forward, they need to be pretty damn kind to fans like us who won't just wait to hear about what's coming next but will actually go out of our way to find out. We are the only reason they are where they are now. Without people 'pissing him off', he would be nothing. I just felt a bit cheated that he had got so big for his boots. Everyone has down days, everyone gets drunk from time to time - but the least he could do is be civil. If no one gave a monkeys when they were next touring or when they were releasing their next single, there would be no Del Amitri. Perhaps he needs to remember that. No fan wants to be told to Fuck Off, particularly when these fans are so loyal and patient. Ha yes, patient! He might think we're all bugging him but lets be realistic here - how long have we been waiting for more Del action? They've been gone for five years! If we were as impatient as he thought, maybe he would have no fans left at all! Oh and on more of a sniffling note that completely undermines everything I've written with such gusto, can someone actually tell me where the Q&A actually are?! Breathe in...breathe out...breathe in...breathe out. Don't you feel better? :-) No need to get yourself in a dither over this. If it upsets you so, I'd lay off reading the diaries and Q&A and just listen to the music you love instead of raising your blood pressure unnecessarily. There, there, my friend, it'll all be ok. :-) Take care, debbie P.S. You've got a great point in that you don't have to like Justin to like his music. I feel the same way with one of my local musicians who's made great music, but is such a flaky, jerky, spoiled brat type person off stage. Oddly enough, the few dealings I've had with Justin in person were completely different than the way he's coming off on the Q&A and Diary entries. Then again, that was years ago and maybe things have changed. Personally, I can see both sides of this situation (Gemini trait, I suppose), so although I think it's a poor choice to slam your fans, I can see how annoying it would be to have countless people bugging you about what's going on, when's the new single coming out, when are you coming to my town, can I have your babies, you're so hot, flirt, flirt, flirt, and on and on. I don't think any of us have had to deal with a ton of strangers poking into our private lives, have we? I think he's handled it badly, but I can't honestly say I wouldn't want to tell people to "Fuck off" either after I've had all I could take. Hopefully, I'd have done it in a nicer way, mind you, but still, that's what I'd be thinking. I guess what I'm saying is that until we've walked a mile in his shoes, we shouldn't judge. We might want to point him to AA, though. Three bottles of wine consumed by one person in one night seems a bit extreme to me. - --- the Gardners wrote: > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Claire O'Rourke" > > > > Got my Del bumper sticker in the post from Ebay > today....should I bother > > putting it on the car and risk the paint > job????????????? > > I wouldn't! > And don't you think that person who is selling all > the Dels stuff on ebay > is probably a fan who read that stupid Diary entry > yesterday?! > > The thought crossed my mind to snatch every poster > off my studio walls and > get rid of them... but then I realized that the > band's music is still the > best. He hasn't always been this way, so apparently, this is a recent development. Again, I'm not defending him in any way. It was rude to voice his thoughts in the way that he did. (I would want them as my exit music if I ever got on big brother and was booted) And then with all this Email Q+A stuff the bonds have got better and stronger. Justin has become more of a real person. I've always perceived Justin as wanting the fame, but not wanting the fame, being the eponymous rock star, but flouting it at the same time, appreciating the appreciation but slightly perturbed by the fandom. It really is a lot to take on, a lot to feel responsible for. "Here Justin, here's thousands of questions to answer, many will be repeated, and a band diary, as many entries as you can please, ooo and anything to stick on the site would be appreciated because you are soooooo liked"........"but the company will shaft you over your record and bureaucratically tie you over the things that have defined you" Yup all those cynical things you feel about the music biz are true. I would struggle to achieve an equilibrium too. I think FUCK OFF is good, I would rather know when he's pissed off rather than him being some faceless rock star that simpers to the camera's and merchandises himself. If this entry surprised anyone, you haven't been paying very close attention to the personality of our beloved Mr. Currie. His songs are riddled with sarcasm and arrogance. In addition, doesn't the old saying go a little like this, "you always hurt the ones you love." I know Justin to be very grateful for the bands fans, so don't take this incident to heart. He loves Ya!!!! Anyone who reads the interviews, listens to the radio & TV interviews will know this is Justin being Justin. Nothing more. I'm sure he's under a tremendous amount of stress these days. Everyone knows that there are only two teams to support... your own and whoever is playing Manly that weekend... Wondering why I used this analogy? Because it makes about as much sense (Especially to non-Australian or non-Rugby League fans)to use it as it does to get emotional about Justy doing what he has always done... been himself :) Nothing is forgiven because there was nothing to get the shits about in the first place!
