Rosemary, how do you feel now that your Q has been answered in the Q&A section? I tell you one thing, I've had about enough of this shitty attitude of Justin's. Rudeness, crudeness and arrogance are not clever or witty under any guise, even when uttered by someone I can't bring myself to hate. May I just express the same sentiment of 'back atcha, babe' to those pointed sentiments Mr. Currie so delicately expressed to all of us fans in the Band Diary. Its from Septic Jubilee, the middle track on the CD1 version of the JBYL single - and what a brilliant track it is too! I also think 'I'm an Unbeliever' on the CD2 version is great, proof that the Del's can still do anthem rock like on Twisted. Things are quiet though - are the band sacked, retired, working, writing, recording, rehearsing, or holidaying in Cleethorpes? It would be nice to know! Tony Driving with my brakes on ... I am not going to give any more of an opinion than this, we all have our own thoughts, but I'm pretty sure a lot of of us feel let down. I just keep thinking back to both nights when I saw the Dels at the Barras this year....my feeling was they were totally overwhelmed by the greeting they received, that after 5 years away, the fans still turned out in their droves and sang louder than the boys did. Justin apologised for the last time they had played and said 'but we're back, you're back and its great''.or something along those lines. Both nights Justin kept thanking the crowd for being so amazing, and we were.........I'm sure they got similar greetings across the country. To get to the point, and I do have one....how can JC go from that to drunken ramblings, and rudeness to his fans. He agreed to tke part in Q&A and I am sure Kevin would have allowed him to step down from these duties if he had said he no longer wanted to take participate! I very much doubt anyone forced him to take part in this! Reading this back to myself, I wonder if I have actually made any point at all! (or any sense for that matter!) But I think some of you can probably see where I am coming from. Claire (who can't wait to see Justin again to see if he makes any more sense when he is sober!) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Aug 2002 00:27:07 +0100 From: "Hilary Gray" Subject: Re: OV: RE: Drunk In A Band Just a thought on this idea... As far as I know, Del Amitri *is* Justin and Iain. Mark & Kris are employees. Not sure about Andy's status. So if Justin and Iain did go solo, they'd still need backing for recording and on tour, and why change a bloody good working setup? However, from that diary entry, the idea of a new name to go with a new era in the band wouldn't surprise me at all. They nearly did it between the first album and Waking Hours. Actually sounds like a good idea - allows for a clean sheet with the music biz and press and the opportunity for loads of accompanying publicity. Not sure about Andy's status. Yes this is true, notice only Iain got the "Appears courtesy of Mercury Records" on the Eileen Rose Long Shot Novena. Anyway Justin's diary entry sounded promising to me. They've obviously lost a lot of support since the Cry to Be Found Curtis Mayfield tribute era began. A friend just emailed me, "heard Del Amitri in the supermarket - they are moving up in the world." I can't imagine any band wants to be remembered as the Kings of Grocery Shopping Music. =====

The Andy Alston Band Experience Project Orchestra - featuring Justin & Iain Back To The Womb Difford & Tillbrook (ha) Harvie Krishna and the Curries It only makes sense to ditch the name if they are indeed breaking up. If Justin & Iain form a new group, they'll still be referred to as "Justin and Iain from Del Amitri" they won't be able to escape it, if that's their intent. Justin & Iain are the Mick & Keith of Del Amitri - Andy is the Charlie Watts (important, but not irreplaceable) There is a possibility that they have to "break up" Del Amitri to get out of their deal with Mercury (no band no deal). Obviously, it depends on how their contract was done. And really, Justin's no more of a smartass in his latest Q&A/diary entries than he was before. Does anyone actually expect serious answers? If so, why would he start now? ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V4 #207 **********************************
