Yep, his best shows were back in those days, although I still like him. It's a good thing, though, that Lisa wasn't with him in her mini and platforms during the Dance Naked tour. John took his pants off to sing "Dance Naked" and jumped around in his shorts! They'd of had to have more security to carry off both the guys AND gals who'd fainted! I remember being captivated by Lisa Germano on one of the John Mellencamp videos where she played violin. I might have even seen her play once at the No Nukes Concert at Madison Square Garden, but I wasn't close enough to see her well. The double bill with Texas is especially cool; every once in a while, I get totally stuck on Sharleen and can't stop playing Texas cds. You may already know this, but late last year, Texas put out a wonderful live dvd called Texas - Paris (a nice play on the title of the movie, Paris - Texas which inspired the group's name). It's got their complete live concert from the Greatest Hits Tour, filmed in Paris in 2001. The sound and the visuals and the glimpses of Paris all make this one of the best live music dvds ever. As a bonus, you also get all the Texas song videos, most of which have never been shown here in the States. Unfortunately, Texas, like Del Amitri, is without U.S. distribution at the moment, and neither the greatest hits cd nor the dvd are released here. You can order them from amazon.uk.co but be aware that although the dvd does not have the region code limitation, it is recorded in the PAL video format which means that unless you have a British tv and dvd player, you will need to watch this on a computer with a dvd drive. It plays wonderfully on my computer and with Cambridge Soundworks computer speakers with subwoofer, it sounds awesome as well. - William Doug Brown wrote: Oh yeah Lisa Germano. Well I heard some of her unexciting solo stuff but oh la la was she something playing violin for Mellencamp on the '94 tour with Texas. ... Texas plays a terrific show featuring the Rick's Road stuff. Mellencamp puts on a two hour show and I know every song. He was darned good but every time Lisa slowly strutted to the center of the stage in time with the music wearing platform heels and a very small mini for her solos they had to carry a few guys off that had fainted. Some shows it's just worth paying extra to sit near the front ya know? Oh then Sharleen comes out for Little Pink Houses and there's this little Scot girl in a band called Texas belting out "Oh but ain't that America for you and me ain't that America somethin' to see baby ain't that America home of the freeeeeeee". Yep '94 was a good year, dry yet fruity with a light bouquet of a Tahiti beach and a complex lingering aftertaste that seems so difficult to find in the new millenium. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jul 2002 14:31:33 +0000 (GMT+00:00) From: Jim Hopping Subject: RE: OV: Re: Re: RE: Re: RE: lyrics Add another Re... Brilliant lyrically as well as musically, there is so much going on behind the vocals. On my first return visit to NYC, post 9-11, I was listening to Surface in the car.
