My favorite track is "Richard Manuel Is Dead") Of course I'm also listening to Neil Finn, The Dels, and Peter Himmelman (has a new rarities disc out) and getting excited for the new Aimee Mann record "Lost In Space". ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Jul 2002 12:51:06 -0400 (EDT) From: Michael Mitchell Subject: Re: OV: In Rotation... Don't mention the Goo Goo Dolls!! I'm still very annoyed and frustrated that they were playing Orlando when I was there last month, and I couldn't take the kids, couldn't get a babysitter, and wasn't insured to drive the hire car - so I couldn't bloomin' well go (well they were probably sold out as well.....) I love that band - was five minutes away from a gig - and stuck in a hotel room watching old re-runs of All In The Family! In my car CD player: 1. Voting disc for John Otway's next Hit. We, the fans, have promised him a hit for his 50th birthday - 25 years after his first and only Hit - and as he seems incapable of choosing a hit song, he has recorded 11 tracks for us to listen to and vote for the one we think will most likely be a Hit. 900 of us recorded backing vocals at Abbey Road Studios for the B side - so that more or less guarantees he'll outsell JBYL, as we're all going to buy at least 2 - 5 copies each to send to our Mums and Grannies). http:\\www.hithithit.com or http:\\www.otway.co.uk 2. Toad The Wet Sprocket's Greatest Hits - a band recommended to me by several OV'ers over the years, so I picked this up when we were on holiday. Like what I hear so must invest in the original albums. 3. Long Shot Novena - Eileen Rose. What a singer. Absolutely fantastic live on Thursday. And the CD features production and guitars and drums from the Del Boys. http:\\www.eileenrose.co.uk 4. Live recording of an acoustic session by Neil Finn, Roddie Frame and Graham Gouldman - Thanks Taire!! 6. Nik Kershaw - To Be Frank - great 2001 recording by this 80's popster - who's drummer used to be a certain Mark Price. At home I've been listening to Pink Floyd's Echoes to help me get rid of a headache, and John Otway's Premature Adulation in one room, and on the PC I have been playing some early Rod Stewart songs and a CD by a band called The Sweeney. From Harlow in Essex, they form part of John Otway's backing band and play wonderfully down to earth post-punk/pub rock songs.
