I, too, think this is the song that would do the best in the US. I don't know how the censors would feel about the "speed" line, but just off the top of my head, I can think of two sets of lyrics in Tom Petty songs (which are played here all the time) with similar references, i.e. MaryJane standing in her underwear and "Let's roll another joint," both of which are extremely tame considering what I hear the teens listening to . . . I can vouch for this first hand!! ;-) Cindy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 May 2002 12:51:37 +0100 (BST) From: =?iso-8859-1?q?Chris=20Quartly?= Subject: Re: OV: Justin on BBC1 Yeah I saw it too, was quite a good piece. I thought it got backed up a little though, Justin defended it well ("I didn't want it to be the official song.....because IT'S A GOOD SONG!") and Colin Hendry seemed to enjoy it. --- Andrew Douglas wrote: > Well, Justin was just on the Beeb talking about > Scotland's effort in the > 1998 World Cup. It was easily my favourite on first hearing the album - it has a real 'hook' that would work well the single-buying public. My favourite, now that I'm well into the album, is "Wash Her Away", (especially with the volume turned right up). It really grabs me and takes me places.
