But when we asked Iain about it last year he said he supposed it would materialise as a B Side sometime. Well if Mercury don't get around to releasing any more singles as Joe Brady says he heard from the horse's mouth then it doesn't look like we'll be hearing the finished article any time soon. Shame. Personally I think it would have made a great A side. Jane ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 13:30:47 +0200 From: Andreas Hille Subject: OV: new single? Hi Dels-Fans, I've been a "quiet reader" for a while now. Since my written english is not that fluent I'll probably stay that way ;-) One thing about the new single. I just got "Drunk in a band" as a promo single (from ebay.de). Doesn't that necessarily mean that they'll put it out as a single (at least in germany)??? I hope so 'cause I think it's the best song on the album. Maybe because it reminds me of "not where it's at" especially the guitar part at the end of each verse. Any comments? Hi Rob Welcome to OV. Don't be afraid to ask anything here about the Dels - I've learned a heck of a lot from the people on this list and they are always happy to answer queries. There are always new members joining, and they may well want to know the same information, but are shy of asking. However this is certainly the friendliest list I've been on. Regarding "Lousy With Love", the UK site, www.delamitri.co.uk has a searchable database for B Sides, though I'm not 100% sure this is working yet and the US site www.delamitri.com has a link to Magnus' Discography where you can find which song was on which single. You can also try Debs' CD Discography at http://www.jimmyblue.co.uk/ which also lists all the B Sides along with the singles. You can find out the dates from there. All the copies of "Lousy With Love" have 98 tracks - as it was released in 1998. The final "surprise" track is called "The Whole World Is Quiet", and was originally a B Side on "Always The Last To Know" , released in 1992 and produced by The Groovey Tubes - which is a pseudonym for Del Amitri. It was part of "Match of the World Cup". Pretty much everyone slated Don't Come Home Too Soon for being too negative, including Jim Kerr (Simple Minds). Justin, however, stuck up for it saying it was a song saying "even though everyone thinks we're shit ... we're not!", or something to that effect. They seemed pleased to see us and said that they'd had number of emails from Del fans asking them why they weren't the support for the whole tour.
