Just so everyone knows, Claire wasn't offering to sell copies. She doesn't have a CD burner. She was offering to put you in touch with the guy who is selling copies. It was just an offer of information. The morality of the issue is now in your hands, what you do with that information. Attacking Claire isn't what the OV Community is about. It isn't what Jane was doing, and I don't think it's what Joe is doing. But, let's stop it here. Let's go back to having a fun place to play. Darren Admin. Opposite View Mailing List - ------------------------------ Why don't we (as a list) get hold of a copy of this bootleg and copy it, making all the copies available for, say a fiver. Then send all proceeds to the band? Or is that too simplistic? Well presumably Claire's friend has nothing to do with what you do with your copy once you've bought it so doesn't matter whether they like it. I'd be up for this idea though definitely. I dont have a CD burner so worried that maybe I wont be able to be part of the tree! Although the other suggestion about putting the money towards the band is a good one too, imo. I personally do not condone putting out money for a bootleg. The only exception, imo, is "Swimming...", which is a professional pressing. And even that is iffy. 2. No offense, but I have this sneaky feeling that the band doesn't want our money in the way that it's being presented that we obtain and then donate it. Those boys are proud. Also, they allow anyone to record from the soundboard free of charge, and expect that those recordings will be distributed; it's no surprise to them. 3. I think it's pretty lame that Claire's friend (NOT Claire) is selling bootlegs. If (s)he asked for reimbursement for media, that's one thing; profiting off the band in any way (or any band, for that matter) disgusts me. 4. Darren rocks for trying to put this together! 5. If any of you wore leather pants and I knew about it, I'd start a fan club for you so we could obssess ;) Alison - ------------------------------------------------------------------- Alison Bellach: alibee@delamitri.com http://alibee.linex.com http://www.delamitri.com "If you want peace, work for justice." ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 May 2002 10:09:01 EDT From: MinervAthene@aol.com Subject: Re: OV: Moola I'll drink to all of that, Alison - well, #5 worries me a little!! :) Tree'ing a copy is a good idea. So the poor little bootlegger doesn't make hundreds? My heart bleeds. Those of us at the gigs all paid for our tickets just the same, and if I'd had the wherewithall to make a recording, I'd be happy to share, knowing that one day it'd come back to me. Shame on the boy. Sarah In a message dated 26/05/2002 15:01:55 GMT Daylight Time, alibee@delamitri.com writes: << Hey guys, Here's my 2 cents/pounds/euros/francs: 1.
