Nigel The venues I've been to have been pretty much sold out - or at least nearly full to capacity, though apparently Newcastle had a lot of empty rows upstairs. Cousteau are OK - but a bit samey and very laid back. The sort of music you can enjoy watching on a Summer Sunday afternoon whilst sipping a pint on the terrace bar of your local arts centre - but not really a band to get you going before the main event. They start around 7.45 and play for 45 minutes. Then there is a half hour break whilst Quinner, Buddy, Brian and the rest of the crew set up and generally mess around (it's very easy to find yourself ignoring the band during the performance as your eyes are drawn to Buddy's antics and crazy dancing). Del Amitri come on at 9 pm or thereabouts to a Warner Brothers fanfare... And whatever you think of the new album there is no denying that the songs sound GREAT live!! Hope you have a great time at Cardiff. Shame we couldn't have met up at Bristol or whatever... Cheers Jane > 1. Have attendances been good because the Cardiff show has barely had a > mention?? > 2. I had somewhat of an adventure getting from Minneapolis to London to Glasgow (my flight was four hours late leaving Mpls due to thunderstorms), but I made it to Glasgow with just enough time to meet Sarah, Helena, and Gerry before the show. The crowd was wild for their Dels, and the boys were obviously touched by the enthusiasm shown by their hometown audience. I didn't hang around after the show, as I began to have a hard time staying awake with only two or three hours of sleep in 36, so we ambled back into town for one more pint and then I went to my hotel and collapsed. I'm so glad I got to share that special evening at the Barrowlands. I've got three more to go to (I'm off to the Manchester Academy after I send this) which I know will be good as well, but I suspect nothing will compare to the outpouring of love both ways in Glasgow. (Nigel, they went on just after 9p.m.) I must stop gushing now. One final note: I'm having trouble checking my regular email via the browser based capability we supposedly have, so until 20 May, write to me at this kellydna@mac.com address. It seems to be working. Like Jim Hopping and others who are attending London shows to let me know where to find you before the gigs. Kelly usually Minneapolis, today Manchester! ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V4 #123 **********************************
