But at Oxford I just thought it was perfect, the dark setting, the smoke, the players barely visible....I just thought to myself "this is rock!". One thing about the tour so far. Why the hell do they end with Just Gettin' By? This is a terrible song to end on. But having seen them a couple more times, it seems the perfect way to end. It was not so good the first night. Well, so much for taking time to be prepared and making arrangements for hooking up with people before the shows--my flight leaves in a little less than 10 hours. I would really like to meet people from the list so here are my contact details. Glasgow: McLays Guest House, Renfrew Street, 0141332 4796 Manchester: Victoria Park Hotel, Park Crescent, 0161 224 1399 London: Guildford House Hotel, Guildford Street, 020 7430 2504 When I arrive in Glasgow, I'll probably be lucky to have time for a shower to freshen up. But if anyone going to that gig would be so inclined, perhaps you'd leave a message at the hotel about meeting places before the show, and I'll try to dash over. Otherwise, I suppose I'll just start calling out, "Opposite View! Opposite View!" once I get to the Barrowlands :) Hopefully Manchester will be less hectic for me, and I'll be in London for a few days before those shows (I'm going to both at Shepherds Bush Empire) which should allow for some plan-making. It sounds like the gigs have been great, and I can hardly wait to see the band and make some new friends! See you soon! Must start packing, Kelly Minneapolis P.S. I'll have my email up for a few hours here while I get ready to go, so if anyone writes off-list, I'll be able to get it for a little longer. Yuk. I've never hated a Del Amitri > song quite as much as I hate that track. Oh come on now, its the sweetest thing!! I'm almost to the point where I can hum along the chorus! Honestly there isn't a track on the album that I hate at all. The more I listen to it, the more I grin. Funny thing, right now I'm working on portrait commissions of Wynton Marsalis, Al Hirt and John Coltrane for a jazz museum that is opening later this month in a nearby town. So naturally I'm listening to their cds (plus a little Harry Connick Jr.) while I work but I simply have to keep CYDMG on the turntable too... whooo, what a change in spirit when IT comes on! Nothing could be farther from traditional jazz than Del Amitri! I've got a better photo of me and Justin which I've posted on to you. The 'other chick' is George, a friend of mine ;-) The photo of Lynne is great, Justin looks quite scared of her! Thanks also, Mike and Lynne, for the great photos and video clip, and of course, Kevin, for keeping his site so up to date with photos, etc. Now... to my point. I just wanted to clarify that I am NOT the Laura that made the posting on the Q&A's on Kevin's site that requested ideas on how to become an active member of society. Thats all I wanted to say. : ) I love the cd, by the way. It definately grows on you. Cash and Prizes, One Cheap Shot at the Dream are brilliant. I love the line in Buttons on My Clothes.. "so, brother send a ship for me, before I wash up on the shore of clarity, and I can see." To all those heading to Newcastle tonight... ENJOY!!!!!!
