Some people, myself included, would like to remain in ignorance about set lists etc of the shows until we get a chance to see for ourselves. So I was wondering if it would be possible to mark messages about the concerts very clearly? That way those who want to avoid them/save until later can do so and remain spoiler free without having to avoid OV for the next couple of weeks. I know other people are desperate to hear about them in as much detail as possible, so just a plea for some warnings in the email titles. Many Thanks, Hilary ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 May 2002 22:06:00 +0100 From: "Hilary Gray" Subject: OV: Re: kevs at it again I saw the banner first on eBay, got really confused as I was searching for Del stuff, thought the advertising was getting even sneakier!! Just wish they'd have played a few more songs. I remember them playing 2 hours when I've seen them 3 times before. Must dash and lock up the office! Wow! What a wonderful night!!! They are certainly back. Looking fit and happy - gosh - Iain even smiled a lot!!! I am too elated to remember exactly what they played and will post it tomorrow - but if you don't want to know don't read any further. They did most of the old hits - with the exception of Roll To Me for which I was grateful! Although my son Alex (9) would have liked that as it's his favourite. We were in the front row and met loads of OV'ers there - people we've not seen since the last tour and people we'd not met before but who we'd chatted with. The new stuff sounds wonderful - no drum machines and very little computer wizardry. Kris has taken over some of Iain's guitar work - he played all the electric guitar on Jimmy Blue for example whilst Iain was on acoustic. Of the new stuff they did Just Before You Leave - which sounded 100 x better live, Cash and Prizes, Drunk In A Band where, as they did at Aberdeen/Edinburgh for the Millennium gigs, Justin sang the first verse, Kris the second and Iain the verse about the cones on the motorway, Buttons On My Clothes, She's Passing This Way, Jesus Saves (I don't think that worked so well - Iain said later they'd cocked the last few numbers up a bit), and Just Getting By. Went back afterwards so Alex could get the band's autographs and pose for photos with Justin and Iain. They said they'd been really nervous - but were so glad to be back. As for me - well I fell in love all over again...... God, it's great to have them back!!! Hoping to make a trip from the states to catch a show or two, but can't till june or july. Any help would be most appreciated. My two cents about the new album as I just recieved my copy from CDnow.....It's different but growing on me....need more listens. Glad to here they are NOT using drum machines live. I just love all the enthusiasm around the new stuff, tours, etc. and will be soooo glad to get home and get my new tunes. I'm SERIOUSLY behind the rest of you guys in hearing the new material, so I've got to play catch-up this weekend. Jane, loved the review. It sounds like everyone had a terrific time...band included. I really wish I'd been there. I thought I might have had a chance to get to the Barras show on the 20th, but no such luck. Hilary's got a great idea that will work for everyone...but I, for one, will want to hear the reviews since I won't get to see them. :-( Have a great day, debbie - --- Kevin Cawthorne wrote: > Hi all > > I am VERY tired, I have been up since 3:30am getting > ready for the start > of the tour, it's now 1:05am so been up for 22 > hours! > > Because of that, I need sleep so not had time to get > a page up for the > photos, but because I know you are dying to see > them, I have uploaded > them at > http://www.delamitri.co.uk/photographs/tour/oxford > for you all > > Apologies, but this guy needs night nights! > > Kevin Cawthorne > Webmaster - The Official Del Amitri Website UK > http://www.delamitri.co.uk > > - ------------------------------------------------------ > This message and any attachment has been virus > checked > - ------------------------------------------------------ Yahoo! Yesterday I went into Our Price in Moorgate, London. Surprise, surprise they had 1 cd. However after getting my hopes up guess what, they had no cover for the cd case. After standing for most of my lunch hour & the guy continually searching for the cover amongst shelved cds, I had to give up. He took my phone number to call when he would get the cover, but as yet I have heard nothing!! I dont know if anyone has found it easier to get hold of the CD but this was my nearest attempt. I did ask if I couyld have the CD only and get some money off for it having no cover, but they would let me. So close yet so far away. A brilliant show!!!!!!!!! Had such a gramd time. I had been slightly disappointed when I heard the new album at first. The songs grew on me over the weeks. I loved the lyrics to them all (typical Del Amitri) but was unsure about the arrangement on some. However, having heard some of those that I felt this way about last night - I definitely appreciate having heard them live. They sounded much more Del Mitre, rockier - - and much better live. The boys are back and they were bloody good! Looking in getting more tickets for later on in the tour!
