It's only having no money, major injury problems and then having a transfer embargo placed upon us thanks to the snivelling Ron Noades that has stopped us getting promotion this season. Even with that, we're still a better side than your 7 million pound team mate, as we've proved twice this season (a deserved win at home and only prevented from winning at Ninian by a homer referee). I make that four points out of six against you and you haven't managed to beat us. I'd say you owe Joe! Hi all, Great to see feedback on where albums are available. Right, now's your chance to help. Because this is a "comeback" single for the Dels, stock ordering won't be too high for outlets, so I have been asked to ask you lot to let us know any "out of stock" record shop - - this information will be used to make sure they are restocked and will also help you if your local store hasn't even ordered copies. This is where the fans can help their band! I will be putting a form online in the next hour where you can provide details of the shop. And I got this today: "Visited the web site Delamitri as mentioned in your profile, and listened to I'm An Unbeliever. Pretty good I thought." (I asked had she listened to JBYL) "No I didn't as I tried using realplayer and it kept buffering so will have to try the mp3player instead. I am a bit computer illiterate and the sodding realplayer opens automatically. I will sort it out eventually and will be listening to the others when I do. Nice selection to choose from I thought." He is currently presenting a slot on BBC Radio 6 and they obviously want input and requests. So it may be the ideal place to get the Dels played. I'm not suggesting we mail bomb him - but if every now and then you remember to drop him a line it could get them some airplay. 3) 6 MUSIC FROM THE BBC - ------------------------------------------------------------ For the next 12 months (and possibly beyond) my main work is going to be presenting the Evening Sequence for the BBC's new all-digital music network 6 Music. This is available via satellite feed, internet and Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB). Subscribers to the Sky Digital satellite service in the UK automatically receive the station on audio channel 911. DAB receivers currently retail around #300 pounds in the UK, but prices are expected to drop considerably in the course of 2002. The programme I present is called The Evening Sequence and is transmitted from 19.00h to 22.00h UK time. I play a mix of music from past and present on air - the only common requirement is quality, so Aretha Franklin and Dr John rub shoulders with The Smiths, Clash, Bees and Lupine Howl. Guests on the show have already included Cornershop, Miles Hunt, Departure Lounge, Lee Griffiths, One Giant Leap and The Blockheads - and we're expecting Asian Dub Foundation, Damon Albarn and TV Smith within the next few weeks. The programme thrives on listener feedback, and the email address direct into the studio while I'm on air is tomrob@bbc.co.uk - so if you're listening at any point do please get in touch and make suggestions and comments during the show. It's always good to hear from you. I get to read everything, but can't reply to emails sent via that address as running the programme is a fulltime job and I have my hands full ! Strict BBC rules mean that I can't actually play my own records on air, alas - but other programmes can, so by all means do request tracks of mine from other presenters such as Gideon Coe, Liz Kershaw and Andrew Collins - it can't hurt ! The music policy of 6 Music is still being formulated in these early days of the station's existence, so it's well worth emailing often with your ideas about the kinds of music and features that you'd like to hear more (or less) of, on the network. Listeners' views are taken very seriously. The words she uttered were obscure and faint, hitting the air from her full, soft ruby red lips then disappearing in an instant. Their meaning no less powerful. The original sound may have been harmless but the echo always as evil as the last. Her eyes flushing orange from the reflection of a neon sign just outside the window, fixed like a wild animal caught in a car headlight. The veins in her forearms stood proud from the extreme pressure of gripping the knife so tightly. Her pure virginal white dress stained with blood like a butcher's apron. She must stop the blood rush now and think straight for the noise of the sirens is drawing closer. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 00:40:51 +0100 From: "Hilary Gray" Subject: OV: new album Hi, Just to echo some recent comments... I haven't been sure about the sound of the new album. I liked Cry To Be Found but on first hearing of the new album I thought that the 'new sound' isn't really my cup of tea. All credit to the band for trying something new I thought, but I didn't think I'd like it. No matter how hard Kevin tried to convince me. :-) I really like guitars. Twisted is my favourite album and for me, the start of Food For Songs followed by Start With Me is about as good as you get. And all the beepy electronic noises and sound effects *really* put me off CYDMG. Sorry Commissioner, I couldn't hear Iain and Kris. However, I'm glad to report that after a couple of listens of CYDMG, Del Amitri are still there, underneath it all. The classic Del tune and lyrics combo are all present and correct. The more times I listen, the more songs I like. And I prefer the second half of the album to the first, that could explain the initial reluctance. I can't quite get to grips with Cash and Prizes yet. I don't think this will ever be my favourite Del album, and I'm not sure I'd work this hard at an album if it wasn't the Dels, but I'm relieved to find I do quite like it. I hope it sells loads and gets tons of airplay, the band deserve it and I can see why Justin is proud of the completed article. I haven't listened to the new singles yet, but was happy to see the return of the 'godlike' Hugh Jones as producer of "I'm An Unbeliever". Well, that explains a lot for me about that song :-) Hilary ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 01:19:46 +0100 From: "Hilary Gray" Subject: OV: Re: cassette singles Fellow collectors, Opal music has cassette singles for #1.95 each. http://www.opalmusic.com/ Cheers, Hilary - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Libby Graham" To: "Debs" ; "Anna Allen" ; "Dels" Sent: 02 April 2002 09:18 Subject: OV: Re: Re: Re: Farce - cassette singles So after I'd finished buying for people Basingstoke had 3 copies of both cds left ...... am going into Reading at lunchtime on the offchance that there are more cassette singles - anyone wanting a cassette single let me know before 12.45 today .... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Apr 2002 08:45:53 +0100 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: OV: Re: new album Am I the only person in Britain NOT to have a copy of the new album yet??? :-( Jane > However, I'm glad to report that after a couple of listens of CYDMG, Del > Amitri are still there, underneath it all.
