I think there is hope....and here's why: Paul Westerberg, as you may know, was dropped by many a label during his career, the last of which was Capital after the release of Suicaine Gratifaction. He put out a record as Grandpaboy under the Monolith label, and then pretty much disappeared off the face of the earth. Well, he was recently signed by Vagrant Records, who yesterday released a new CD (again by Grandpaboy) called Mono -- and a 2nd CD is to surface in April (this time by Westerberg himself with, if rumors are true, Tommy Stinson playing bass. Be still my heart!) The album, by the way, freakin' ROCKS, and it is so awesome to hear Paul again, that I can barely contain myself. Westerberg has what I would call a cult following and never made it big in any mainstream markets. He chose the smaller label to put out his new stuff (I don't know if he had a choice, really) -- my point is that there are options for artists who really want to get their stuff out in the US. If anyone's interested, you can go to http://www.vagrant.com/vagrant/bands/vagrantController?action=displayBand&re c_num=23&url=/bands/bands.jsp to check this out. There are also links about submitting tapes, etc., which may be many levels below what DA needs to do -- but it's a thought and potentially another option. I read an interview with the owner of this label, and he really sounds like a fan -- someone who just wants to get good music out, period. So, for anyone looking for a kickin' album (to tide you over until DA's disc comes out!), you should check this one out. And I also take it as a sign of hope that good music will get released here, somehow.... Wow what a complete and utter piece of crap. Who knew a music video could be so ugly and pointless? They've outdone themselves this time, I really hope this is some joke the label is pulling on someone. And finally getting to hear the whole song sent a shiver down my spine. This is easily the worst song I have ever heard from the band. I don't know what they're thinking, it's pretty much early Sade minus all the good stuff. Cry To Be Found taken way too far. The bass line is ok but who cares when it's behind this abomination. Headline: Del Amitri Finds Soul And Loses Fans. What a waste of a perfectly good band. You people talking about trying to get this album to the US - WHY? So it can not sell here too? And are they really going to try to play this LIVE?! Good god man, it will put everyone to sleep. Which might at least save the poor crowd from the rest of the album's songs. If all this was too subtle, let me know and I'll tell you what I really think. Love again, Doug Yahoo! Can you be more specific about the computer you're using, that you think is not capable of viewing ASP pages? Is it an older computer that can not run the latest version of Netscape or Internet Explorer? That's the only limitation that I can imagine. I viewed the video on both my Windows computer and my Macintosh computer. Although, on the Macintosh I had to manually launch the Real Player program, and then open the ASP file from within the Real Player (File menu, Open function). I think the song is great! While the video is a cute concept, I truly can't see it getting any airplay on any of the music video networks.
