And this is a > band who have had several albums in Q's best of the year polls. But they've not done anything much since then.... I'm sure there will be a review in the March issue of Q. At least I hope so.... if not, there's bound to be one in April. They don't like to do them too far in advance, as by the time the album comes out people may have forgotten about it. Whereas, if the album is released whilst the mag is still on the shelves people may read the review and go straight out to buy the CD. Well, that's my theory anyway. And I'm sure someone's already posted the rave album review from this month's Guitarist magazine. It's on Alison's site I know. But we need to find out from JPR/Mercury what will be in which mag so we can all make sure we go out and buy it! Today's Sunday Times has an advert for the Dels tour in the Culture section. (Along with a great, 3 star, ie outstanding, review for Eileen Rose's new CD, Long Shot Novena, out tomorrow and produced by Iain and Kris who also play on it along with Mark - shameless plug!!). So stuff is filtering through gradually. BTW Dave - you may get a kick out of knowing that Hilary and I went to a meeting with Kevin yesterday - and both of us coincidently were listening to your CD on the way there. The more I listen, the more I love it! I wish there was some way we could get you on support with the Dels - you'd go down a storm. But it's one of those things the record company usually decides isn't it? Still, if Jen can sort things so we can buy out the album rights or whatever, who knows.... :-) Jane ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Feb 2002 12:17:24 -0000 From: "Hilary Gray" Subject: OV: Re: stations list I can't understand why the stations would react like this to email requests - most positively encourage listeners to request songs. Would they say that to someone if they rang up for a request? Interesting to see your response from TLR. That's my local station, and they do play the Dels. Perhaps I may follow up nearer the release date, they have an online request form at their website, and they do request shows during the week and at the weekend. It is a bit 'local radio for local people', so it's not going to set the Del world on fire if they do play the new single regularly, but it all helps! Route Five was founded to put out my records and eventually records from other artists I admire and believe in, and right now, there is no band who fits that bill like del Amitri does. At the risk of sounding ridiculous, feel free to consider this offer; I'd be honored to lend our humble label to this most worthy cause (and show the world what true fans of good music can do to make sure that music gets heard). Hey "Tank" If you don't want to play the new Del Amitri single that's fine, (even fawning, simple minded radio hacks like you are allowed to have crap taste) but you could at least refrain from proving your ignorance and stupidity by spelling the name correctly. Talk about a major dickhead... Hey Mr. DJ, have a nice day. George Carlston "Please inform your friends to stop sending these bullshit e-mails. They will not get your Del Amitir record played. Recently Chris Moyles and some other Radio 1 DJ's complained about getting bulk emails from the Delirious mailing list. Personally I'm against sending all the emails, I think it just pisses people off that they get 200 odd emails asking for the song, especially if it looks like it's some sort of fan co-ordinated thing. I think it's better if you only email your local station, it seems fairer since at the other stations your not really requesting the song because you want to hear it. The dels will have some sort of plugger who should be trying to get the single onto their playlist. Maybe the plugger isn't doing their job that well but I figure while we're not yet the dels record label we should probably let the incompetents do their best! andrew - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hilary Gray" To: "Dels" Sent: Sunday, February 24, 2002 12:17 PM Subject: OV: Re: stations list > I can't understand why the stations would react like this to email > requests - most positively encourage listeners to request songs. If you like Billy, the first cd is heavier with his contributions (or rather, his vocals versus Jeff Tweedy's) but if you happen to like Wilco as well then both are definitely worth owning. There are plenty of gems on both of them. The first one is a bit superior, but even the draggy points on Vol. 2 are still stellar. josh.
