Just looked at the new Dels tour dates and initailly was overjoyed to see that they are playing Southampton Guidhall, the nearest venue by about 75 miles to where I live. Being 16, having no money and knowing no one else who is into Dels and able to drive, transport is a bit of a problem, so that rules out any other dates........ However, I then noticed the date (16th May), the NIGHT OF MY SCHOOL LEAVERS PROM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) ahhhhhhhhhhhhgggggggggg! sob sob sob sob sob................................................... I did when I was a senior to go to a scottish festival and watch goat herding demonstrations by kilted enthusiasts. I have zero regrets. I drove back from another music festival (where I hadn't showered in three days) the one time Del Amitri has been in the states the last 4 years (or whatever it's been). We don't want to start singing pathetic Air Supply tunes when it comes to a band that actually writes original love songs...(Don't you want to long, something has gone wrong, the chances are all goooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeee). As far as transport, I would say to ask Justin about it. Someone asked about a girl in his hall who has a boyfriend, and his advice was to "have him killed". He seems to be quite a thinker when it comes to that stuff...he might have an interesting suggestion. Must mean something since I haven't heard any dels for months. It was kind of a treat actually. :) cheers, karen I never listen to ther radio anymore but I did hear Dont Come Home Too Soon on a Guess The Year half hour on the the South Wales commercial radio station this week. The uselessness of local, commercial radio was summed up by the presenter who, once the song, finished said (I id you not), "That's Del Amitri and Don't Come Home Too Soon, a song recorded for the Scottish squad for the France'98 World Cup but in what year was it a hit?" I'll defo be at Cardiff (rude not to when St Davids Hall is just down the road) and maybe Bristol too the night before. I really hope to go to Sheperds Bush gig as I love the venue. A proper rock venue for proper rock bands, all standing and no seats - as it's meant to be. Anyone know what the Birmingham Academy is like where the Dels are also playing? Is that a standing venue too?? My main interest is because I'm going there next Sunday night to see The Strokes. I remember commending them to this list this time last year before they were known and saying they could be a big group. Wasn't such a bad prediction, was it? BTW - For those of us who keep an unhealthy interest in Dels support groups, The Supernaturals are due on the road again shortly. Unfortunately Ken the maddest keyboard player around has packed it in because he wasn't happy they're now not a major group and decided to be the official photographer at St Andrews Golf Course (the home of golf) instead! Bizarre. They're playing small, intimate venues including Cardiff (wahey!) next month. Pop along if you can. 16/03/02 - Workington, Monroes 17/03/02 - Hull, Adelphi 18/03/02 - Derby, Victoria Inn 19/03/02 - Sheffield, Barfly 22/03/02 - Cardiff, Barfly 23/03/02 - Harlow, The Square 26/03/02 - Chelmsford, Army & Navy 27/03/02 - London, Borderline 28/03/02 - Milton Keynes, Zaks 29/03/02 - Bedford, Esquires 30/03/02 - Liverpool, Lomax ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Feb 2002 16:43:14 -0500 From: "Josh Neas" Subject: Re: OV: Tour Dates >I really hope to go to Sheperds Bush gig as I love the venue. But the one show I went to at the Sheperd's Bush Empire, I certainly sat in seats. Granted I was in the 3rd Balcony but it was nothing but pews/bench seats. It was actually a really good place to see the show since I didn't feel much like standing that night and saw the show perfectly fine. josh. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Feb 2002 20:40:30 EST From: SngWrite1@aol.com Subject: OV: OT: Shameless self promotion Well, I guess it's not entirely off topic.
