The only thing I've ever received from them was when I originally signed up. They sent a note stating that there was no news, but they'd let me know if anything ever happened. Too funny. Maybe the mail's just late..... It's OK putting out the original demos once the final takes have been released, but that's about as much as I'd expect to get. As for DVD's - music DVD's are multi region in my experience (unlike movies) so there wouldn't be an issue with a Del's DVD not being playable, it should work anywhere in the world. Kevin could you get Iain to call her and tell her what a wonderful idea this would be? I'm sure they don't care what the postcards are, just stamp Del Amitri Wasn't Here on some 5 cent Iowa cornfield pictures and send em out. Hell this would make more sense than Justin's diary entries. Doug, I'd go so far as to shave D and A in some strange man's sideburns and take a digital picture of it. Aw yeah. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2002 14:21:04 -0500 From: "William Kates" Subject: Re: OV: Album progress I too would love to see a proper live dvd/video. Dvd region coding should not be an issue because it is only required for movies. Music dvds are not required to carry a region code, and most are region 0 meaning they'll play on all players regardless of region. Any music dvds that have a region code shouldn't - just careless production by whatever company made it. Texas (another band from Scotland that gets even less attention in the US than Del Amitri) just released a live dvd in England and Europe called "Texas - Paris" which contains a complete concert from their most recent tour date in Paris, plus extras which include all of their song videos, most of which have never been shown on this side of the Atlantic. The dvd is in PAL video format but has no region code. Surprisingly, when I got my copy from Amazon.uk.co, I popped into my computer's dvd drive and it played perfectly (it was waiting in the mail when I arrived home from work on Christmas Eve). Apparently a computer's video process is not dependent on PAL or NTSC. The photographic and sound quality on this disc is excellent. Del Amtri would be well served to have such a dvd released. Regarding the demos and alternate versions, I say bring 'em on - the more the merrier. Cheers, William Jen wrote: While I agree with Chris about the need for a proper live CD/video, may I put in a vote for either NO DVD or a release in both DVD and video formats? The whole multiple-zone thing with DVD's is confusing at best and frustrating in the whole. And converting PAL-NTSC is a breeze compared to trying to find compatable players and/or transfer DVD to video... _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2002 21:25:35 -0000 From: "Stephen Cannon" Subject: OV: RE: Haven For Jim: the band Haven's new song "SAY SOMETHING" has been played a lot on Century 105.4FM in the Manchester area and like you I think it is really good. The only video release with any live stuff I've ever seen (or heard about) is "Let's Go Home". Eric ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jan 2002 21:27:48 -0800 From: Darren Holmquist Subject: OV: No Better Location "No Better Location" was originally a self contained concert show for TV (someone will correct me if I'm wrong). It was then packaged together with all (save 2) videos as Hatful Of Rain: The Best Of Del Amitri Videos. It was only released in the European PAL format. It was not released in the US & Canada. The concert film was filmed right after SOSP was released in '97, and runs about 50 min. Hope that helps. Darren At 08:53 PM 1/18/02 -0700, Eric Johnson wrote: >What is "No Better Location"?
