Best bits were "big" Justin's version of Elvis Presley's Burning Love, plus Eddi Reader and Ken Mcluskey's great duet on the Pogues' Fairytale in NY. Word is the all stars had a ball and night do more gigs" Hope this helps, those of you desperate for news ChrisF http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HavenRLFC/ http://mysite.freeserve.com/havenrlfc/ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Jan 2002 22:49:04 -0600 From: "Jennifer Woyan" Subject: OV: new diary entries... Well, it's 10:30pm on a Sunday night and I was tooling around on the web, looking for things important, inconsequential and just plain distracting, when for shits & giggles, I check in on Kev's site and low & behold - 1.5 diary entries from Justin, s'posedly posted on 7 Jan... Given it's now 4:30am in the UK, and given the wonderfully Joycean content of the new entries - looks like our kid had another frustrating evening on the piss contemplating life on the verge of perceived pointlessness, eh? Poor boy. Alot of new CD's coming out this spring - Elvis Costello, Alanis Morrisette,Tom Waits, Starsailor, just to name a few - also, there's been a bit of talk of recording industry budgets dwindling down, along with the speculation that the singles format will be eliminated this year (http://www.salon.com/ent/music/feature/2001/12/19/music_industry_sidebar/ind ex.html?x). Competition - along with the general malaise of the industry in general - will be brutal... Whatever we can do to help things along, we need to be doing. I sure hope JPR concurs. Sorry if this wounds a tad morose - I not, really. Actually Justin's posts were somewhat heartening in their vibe of raging against futility - not a bad philosophy to start the new year with... What an amazing start to 2002! I have been offline for a while due to a car accident and I was waiting with excited anticipation for my insurance pay out cheque to arrive. I hobbled on my one good leg to the mailbox to find a package with a return address to you, which completely didn't register until I opened it up to find a copy of the long talked about tribute CD... Holy snapping duck bills Batman! This was a fantastic surprise and is greatly appreciated, although could I get a complete track and artist list as most of mine are obscured by that damned hole thingy in the middle. I already have at least 5 people lining up for their own copy... Thanks again and congratulations to all those who contributed. I hope that the band is suitably impressed. Take care, Michael:) Everything you'll ever need on one web page from News and Sport to Email and Music Charts http://uk.my.yahoo.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 6 Jan 2002 20:50:02 +0100 From: Arathas@pratchett-fanclub.de Subject: OV: Hogmanay gig so did anyone tape this big event?
