Why not sell the Edinburgh tickets and hop on a bus to Glasgow instead? Glasgow is FREE - so if you don't sell the tickets (and there shouldn't be a problem there - they are always over-subscribed) it won't be costing more than the fare between cities. Jane ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 17:02:19 -0000 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: OV: Release Date? I went into my local HMV today and asked if they'd had any word about a new Del Amitri album and was told that there was a release date of 18th March :-((( Don't know how accurate that is -but it's certainly a longer wait than "January or February". At least they HAD it on the list though - but with "Name to be confirmed". Maybe it'll be out in time for Christmas..... 2002. Perhaps now's the time to get scrounging for that info - Only 2, uh 3 more months til the release.... I've seen major label bands (Dave Matthews, Train, David Gray) post on websites links to the radio station's request lines, as well as phone contact info... I'm willing to go to the library in the next week and peruse Pollstar/Amusement Business/etc for US info - and I believe some of the UK info is available online at - http://www.radio-now.co.uk/ and perhaps RadioTimes has a listing book as well.... Recently (like today), Mark posted to the discussion page on Kevin's site that he'll "trawl the internet in the next while (when my boss is at meetings!) & see what addresses/phone numbers I can find." But so as to not duplicate efforts - oh, what the hey - let's duplicate efforts - at least we'll be doing the effort! Question is, who's gonna share our efforts with JPR? Jane? Kev? Bueller? The Canadian source for radio and t.v. stations is at www.broadcastdialogue.ca. Hit the link for directory at the top right hand corner of the screen, select "simple search" and then weave your way through the provinces. So far, I haven't heard or seen any advance press on the new album, and believe me - I've had my eye out. I also have a personal list of stations, so write if you need anything! Kristy in Canada ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Dec 2001 21:42:29 -0000 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: OV: Re: Radio Stations etc. Thanks Jen I've passed this website on to Mark - and I'll talk to Kev about getting it publicised on the site. We have to be careful, as it's an Official site, that we don't get accused of "chart rigging" etc It's down to us ALL to get the name of Del Amitri back on people's lips - and if everyone from the UK could follow the link Jen posted and email or phone http://www.radio-now.co.uk/ their local radio station then maybe we can. We need to say what a great band they are, and how we hear there's a new album in the offing.... ask for any news and request they play Del Amitri track. If we also get our friends to email (but not all on the same day!), or use any different email aliases we have, they won't be able to ignore us. Also, Virgin Radio, especially Russ Williams and Harriet Scott are very Del friendly. People listen to Virgin Radio http://www.virginradio.co.uk/ or http://www.virgin.com/radio/ across the globe - they are always reading out emails from the US or Australia or other far flung places. If our US or Aussie friends could email them at studio@virginradio.co.uk If you go to the first website and click on "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page you get a form where you can select the DJ you want to mail - including whoever is broadcasting at the time. Simple. I've mailed something along these lines to Virgin: "Hi I understand from their website www.delamitri.co.uk that Del Amitri are going to release a new CD, "Can You Do Me Good" early next year. It's been while since they've released any new songs, so I'm really looking forward to hearing it. I know that Virgin Radio are fans of the band, and am sure that you will be playing tracks from the new album. In the meantime, I'd love to hear you play one of their older songs. Thanks" If anyone does email any UK radio station I've be very grateful if you could let me know at janea@delamitri.co.uk which it is and when you emailed them - especially if you get a response. I'd like to monitor what's going on and keep a list. Cheers Jane ------------------------------ End of oppositeview-digest V3 #313 **********************************
