Personally, A diary, public or not, is ideal for venting your inner thoughts onto paper. You let all your frustrations, agitations and deepest feelings out through a tip of a pen(or in this case, keyboard). I think it's an entry showing his utter boredom of all the waiting, and he's telling you he knows there's not a lot going on, so here's a posting about him - and I don't mind it at all. As Sarah said, we have no right to 'knowledge' beyond what the band is doing professionally. Justin is asking whether anyone is really interested in his everyday trivia, and maybe taking the mickey out of us for wanting to know. Justin's writing style in the diary is established enough that if you don't like it then you know to avoid those and wait for Iain's more factual entries. Personally I don't think he's deliberately trying to piss us off or patronise us, I think he's just bemused that people would be interested in him personally, not just the music. Depending on my mood I've thought his entries have either been taking the piss, serious, sharing a joke with his readers, written while under the influence or just gibberish. Or all of the above. Read it then laugh, cry, shout or whatever and move on. It's not the classics, it's disposable 'pop' writing, written at 3am by a (probably drunk) Scotsman! I wouldn't take it as a personal afront, honestly. It's his diary to do with as he wishes, I believe, so those who are (easily) offended always have the option of not reading it, right? debbie - --- joe brady wrote: > Jane, > > As much as i do respect your opinion and i do see > that you have more then > a point i don't totally agree.Sure it must be hard > to be just sitting > around waiting but i think the posting smelled of > Disrespect.Do we really > want to know about he's Laundry bin and him Playing > with himself whilst > watching Horses??????.Surely there must be more news > then this stuff? > > It seemed to me like we must be really sad wanting > to know what he does > in he's spare time but the thing is i don't care if > Justin does get a > kick out of watching Black Beauty,I want to know > about the BAND ,Seeing > as it is a band diary?.C'mon Justy,Spare us the > rants in the Middle of > the Night. We are worth more then that. > > > > BE HAPPY,SUPPORT Q.P.R!!!!! >From: "Jane Armstrong" > >To: "Dels" >Subject: > OV: Re: Fwd: Do we really want to read this shite? > >Date: Fri, 7 Dec 2001 > 09:22:39 -0000 > > > >I found this totally > patronising? > > >Joe > >I > wouldn't say he was being patronising - he just > sounds completely peed > off >with sitting around waiting for something to > happen. It's very much like Lennon's prose writing - fanciful and rambling, but meaningless. What does he really mean by it? We'll never know - it's like trying to get him to tell you what a certain song is REALLY about! Someone once said that the truth is often much less interesting than what others believe is the truth. If he just wrote a diary entry that said, "I'm so frustrated by waiting for the record to come out that the business aspect is souring me towards the whole thing," we would've been supportive and encouraging and bland. This stirred up the pot - which in between albums needs to be stirred. So Justin, just remember as Tom Petty said, "the waiting is the hardest part." Oh, I don't know...we say hung like a horse here (America), so I think you're right on the mark...well, not that I have any idea how he's hung... > Anyhow, moving a away from this drivel, I'm more > interested in what game his > nephew beats him at on the PS2. Well, speaking for only myself, I think he got sort of "big-headed" and full of himself around the ZooCRAPa period. During the middle of all their fooling around with that techno/media crap they (U2) were trying to open a Hard Rock Cafi in Dublin. My father was doing some work for the Hard Rock at the time and was going to take me with him to Dublin. It didn't end up happening, though, because they couldn't get a liquor license where they wanted to build. It's probably a good thing I didn't get to go on the trip, too, 'cause I'd have told Bono that they'd gone to crap with their music and to get back to making real music. I haven't bought a U2 album since Rattle & Hum and only have Achtung Baby because it was given as a Christmas gift. But, that doesn't answer your question really, does it. Sorry. ;-) > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Phil Denson" > To: "O.V." > Sent: Friday, December 07, 2001 12:48 PM > Subject: OV: Justin's Shit > > > > > >if the daily dross is all you want you can > fucking well have it,my > > dears...................God's a duck and Bono is > poison. I wonder what they mean by 6" x 9" !!! The site you're looking for was at http://www.ecosse-it.co.uk/kmo/ but it's down pending a re-vamp. But the "Unofficial" site at http://www.kevinmcdermott.co.uk/ is great - and although it's supposed to be Unofficial, Kevin McD does actually endorse it and post on the Message Board. I'm still at work and didn't think "full frontal nudity" would be a good thing to have displayed on my computer. I did actually find the other two sites, though, even the no good "official" site. I was hoping (like you suggested) that he/they'd be playing sometime while I was there, but surprise surprise! they're not. I can't believe I'll be in Glasgow this time next week! I'm so mentally ready...packing's another matter entirely, though. ;-) See ya soon, debbie - --- Jane Armstrong wrote: > Ooh You sure did!
