Thanks! Sarah ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Nov 2001 17:21:37 -0000 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: OV: Re: past Dels singles Sarah This is a very hard question to answer - I would say all of them! It would also depend whether you want to go for just CD singles or vinyl too. Some of the earlier Crysalis singles aren't available on CD. Their vinyl No Strings single, Sense Sickness can go for up to #50-75, but seems to be appearing more frequently and the price coming down accordingly. Hammering Heart is usually around a tenner. But I would say that the best thing to go for to start with are those with B sides which aren't on "Lousy With Love". Many people here consider the song Evidence to be one of their finest recordings - and that's on the B Side of Nothing Ever Happens. I think there may be a copy on www.ebay.com right now. A very good resource for old singles is www.netsounds.com. This is a "market place" where nearly 300 dealers get together to show their wares - so if you do a search on Del Amitri you can usually find most of the singles there. You can also compare prices - which is great as they can differ quite considerably. Some dealers (eg EIL - Esprit) can be a bit of a rip-off, but by going through Nettsounds you can chose whom you buy from. There are various discographies to be found via links on the main sites - and these tell you which B Sides are on which single. Del Amitri recordings are going for a song at the moment as they've dropped out of favour somewhat - but prices could rise again once the new album is released and their popularity goes up again. So now is a great time to buy! And it's so much fun!!! I do own Lousy with Love, and love it to bits, which is what started me thinking about getting other b-sides. Everyone seems to rave about all these great songs I don't know already - and yup, I thought now would be a good time to buy some stuff before the new album brings about new interest (and higher prices!!) Thanks for the suggestion, and I'll obediently go and browse around those sites and see what I can afford! Now, what's the liklihood of me seeing some good looking Scots in kilts in just over three weeks time? I know, I know, not good, since I didn't see any in June the last time I was there, but a girl can hope, right? Although this wasn't the first time I'd seen Justin in a kilt, it still brought a smile to my face. :-) Jane?
