As for the crowd, that's been the theme for the whole Beyond Nashville series. My friends and I actually got shushed the first night! The= idiocy of being shushed at a country concert. It was absolutely ridiculous. The only show where people really got up (and it was all because of an oustanding attempt by the performer) was the Blind Boys of Alabama who finally got everyone in the place on their feet with a 20 minutes gospel song that was a sight to behold. It was incredible. >Didn't get to talk for long though as they had to clear the stage and >we >had to leave early to catch the train - so no new Dels gossip. Had to leave early? Pah! Then you missed an amazing performance by the Jayhawks who were in top form. Being a fan of theirs for years, this was my first chance to see them and I wasn't dissapointed. They played all the songs I was hoping for ("Waiting for the Sun," "Two Hearts," "Real Light," "I'd Run Away," "Blue," "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me") A beautiful John Cale cover as well. Quite a gig. Sorry that I didn't catch any of you guys. If you're going to be in London anymore (or any of you OVers in the area) drop me a line and maybe we can get together for lunch or something before I take off. (December 8th) My new= favourite restaurant is Red Veg - communist themed vegetarian fast food. You= can't beat it. :) josh. And then I couldn't find my way all the way up to the balcony bar. The Barbican is such a maze of a place. Andrew got there, but there were too many people milling around. We did catch most of the Jayhawks set, but the last train goes at the antisocial hour of 11.35. They were great and I really enjoyed them, and will be looking out for their stuff. Any recommendations?? Just a quick plug for Hilary's Eileen Rose discussion list at http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Eileen_Rose_list We get all the news fed through to us - which is better than on the Rough Trade website, where you're more than likely to read about a "forthcoming" gig after it's taken place a gig. And hey - let's face it, that's the only way we get to see any Dels at the moment!! Don't feel bad, Kristy, I didn't even know there were any other CDs beyond the soundtrack to the movie! Oh, and which CD, pray tell, did you spend $50 for? Certainly one of us here on the list, your friends :-) could have got you one for less than that! Well, unless it's some rare CD I've never heard of/seen. The only one I've seen that even remotely reaches that price is the Abbey Road one, but even I won't pay that much for a CD...not 'til I win the lottery or something. The ex-Beatle and his fiancee Heather Mills were arriving at JFK airport on concorde just as the American Airlines Airbus 300 exploded and came down shortly after take off. "I looked out of the window just moments after the jet crashed in to Queens, and thought 'Oh God, not again'", said McCartney who also witnessed the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre on 11 September. McCartney was in America to promote his new single Freedom, which was written for the victims of the World Trade Centre tragedy. Despite witnessing both disasters the singer has not been put off flying. "I am going to keep on going and keep at it", he said. "We have got to get behind America. That is why I have done this song. They need people to carry on coming here and I am determined to do all I can." Freedom was released last Monday (5 November) but failed to figure in the weekly charts due to a technicality. The B-side, From A Lover To A Friend was released the previous week and was still in the chart, which resulted in Freedom being illegible to compete in the chart. Proceeds from both releases will go to the orphans and widows of firemen and police officers involved in the attack. In any case, tell me more about this vegetarian restaurant. I'll be spending the first day in London before catching the train to Glasgow overnight. Any London OV'ers feel like meeting up that day. I realize it's a Thursday and probably most of you will be at work, but maybe someone wants to do lunch? If any Glasgow area OV'ers feel like meeting up, I'll be there from the 14th 'til the 22nd or 23rd (haven't decided yet). I don't suppose Eileen or the Dels will have anything going while I'm there...my luck won't allow it. :-) have a good day, debbie - --- Josh Neas wrote: > >Tonight's Eileen Rose gig at the Barbican was > fantastic.
