Some of you may know that I play guitar in an "acoustic" band that comprises of myself and some other people at my work and we did one charity concert that raised #1,600. Some one enjoyed it and we have been hired again to play at a charity concert on the 23rd Nov. The problem that the band (called DNA, as it comprises of a Doctor, Nurse and Anaesthetist) cant decide on the order of our set list as we thought the last one was not quite right when we listened back to it. I suddenly had I idea, Why not ask the people who I consider have an excellent taste in music, and also have attended a few live gigs over the years. So OV'ers can you help me with my Set List?? I will list the 17 songs that we are doing and leave the rest to you!! The concert will be recorded and a big thanks the OV mailing list will be mentioned before a certain song from a Scottish band!!! (I finally got a Del song in the set list!!).If you are unaware of the songs I am sure with the wonders of the net you will be able to hear what they sound like. So in no particular order. Jane ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 00:55:51 -0000 From: "Jane Armstrong" Subject: OV: Tonight's Eileen Rose gig Tonight's Eileen Rose gig at the Barbican was fantastic. She sang brilliantly - - and the band were on top form. The acoustics were excellent and the sound was crystal clear. It was a shame that the audience was made up from the overflow from the local morgue. But it was a posh venue, and people probably felt far to inhibited to show their appreciation. She went down well though - as well as anyone would when 98% of the audience was dead. But shock horror!!! Iain now has short hair!!! Well collar lenght anyway. And in his smart suit and tie he looked more like a stockbroker than a rock star. If you compared him now with the Iain Harvie from the Twisted era - or even early SOSP you'd NEVER believe it was the same guy. But he did actually look stunning. (Not that I'm biased or anything you understand - what me, fancy Iain Harvie???) And I got to give him a snog too - so I'm going to have some nice dreams tonight. Didn't get to talk for long though as they had to clear the stage and we had to leave early to catch the train - so no new Dels gossip. Shame I embarrassed myself by forgetting where I'd seen the Devlins at the weekend when Iain asked, and had to ask Hilary and Libby (who didn't even go there with me)! It was Dublin actually - and both Colin and Peter recognised me immediately even though it was 3 years to the day since they were touring with the Dels - and I got to snog them too! That's 8 rock stars in as many days in 3 different countries. I'll have to watch myself - I'll be getting a bad name as an International Groupie. Oh well back to the boring routine now..... Okay, here's the scoop. I was looking for a song online tonight and accidentally tripped onto the Commitments. Loved the movie, loved the soundtracks and for a while was quite desperate to make Andrew Strong mine . . . then I wised up and realized that Robert Arkins was the "cool" one since he had the funky shoes. Anyhoo, I found out that there is a THIRD Commitments album. Where the hell was I when this came out? I'm looking for information! I can't find it on any sites here in Canada and I suspect that it'll be a ruddy import that'll cost me dearly. Seeing that I paid $50 for a Dels CD last year, that really isn't my main concern . . . do you guys know what it's called or have a track list? I have to get this in time for Christmas, even if I have to wrap it myself and put it under the tree! Thank you in advance for helping out . . . since I'll get it at the Virgin Megastore, they thank you too! Committed . . .
